thats a shame alright.

jason, on the french selection team list there were 2 cronulla sharks players,, daniel dumas and dimitri pelo. are they current or ex sharks ?

also there was a player named marc faumuina..
there used to be a mark faumuina play for a sydney club in the early 90,s in the then NSWRL comp.
there is currently a sione (john) faumuina playing for the nz warriors....
he is first cousin to olympic discus chucker beatrice faumuina..

do you know of any ties to the ones i mentioned ?
cheers

I can tell you a bit about Dimitri Pelo mate, he is from the Burleigh Bears and has just signed for Cronulla, he represented the Australian Schoolboys on last years tour of England after previously being on a scholarship with the Canterbury Bulldogs, he's very highly rated.
He qualifies for France because he is from New Caledonia.

Ali (Sharkie fan) can tell you more about Daniel Dumas but he played a few 1st grade games for the Sharks this season.

I'm pretty sure Marc Faumuina also spent time in the lower grades at Penrith as well.

It is bad news to hear that Houles is out, but in some irony, it could work out being a blessing for the French. With Houles out, it could pave the way for Fabien Estabenz (sp?) to make the centre position his own. Estabenez, who scored 13 tries in 3 games at the Med. Cup, probably would have been 2nd behind Houles and Teddy Saddoui. This may be the chance he needed to break into the test side on a more permenent basis.

Obviously it is not ideal to have an injury to a player like Houles, but I just have the feeling we could witness some good out of it. It is definitely not all doom and gloom for the French and I think they will do extremely well in the Euro Nations tournament.

Danial Dumas is a Port Macquarie junior who qualifies through grand parentage. He was spotted by the French coach when he was looking for NRL players with French ancestory, Dumas was first spotted because he and the French coach both share the same surname.
