I bought the first one ("Mesmerise"?).

I wasn't too impressed...It was good at first, but there's something about it...I don't know...I can't listen to it over and over...

Is the second installment any better?

I was perhaps a tad hasty earlier...

"Mesmerize" isn't bad by any means...

It just lacks that anthem sort of song like "Chop Suey" was...

Then again, Drowning Pool haven't had an anthem since "Bodies" either...

hehe, yeah the singer is dead, and their second album with their new singer was a complete disaster... I have Mesmerise and it is mediocre at best, this band is nothing special any more.

It's OK. It's not ignorance.

Yes, Drowning Pool's original singer died.

Their follow-up album was OK...But nothing more.

I don't know - I just love the feeling when songs like "Chop Suey", "Smells Like Teen Spirit", "Bodies" and co. come on and EVERYONE starts getting pumped. It's awesome.

System's "Mesmerize" didn't have any anthem-like songs like that.

It's not a terrible album by any means, though.

I agree, every album has only improved. And considering I had Toxicity on loop when it came out, that's saying a lot.

Amazing is a bit much.

Dream Theater are amazing, Devin Townsend is amazing, Opeth and Nile are amazing.

System are merely pretty good compared to every other nu-metal band. At least they show some creativity that puts them ahead of the terrible generic crap spurned by the likes of Slipknot, Korn etc.

Oh, and the title track off Toxicity is pretty damn good.

It's off topic a little but for your information Drowning Pool are in the process of mixing thier 3rd album with thier 3rd singer. Ryan McCombs, who was in Soil, is the latest lead singer and thier CD should be out early next year.

Not sure, I think he was sacked because Drowning Pool didn't get the sales and response they got with thier 1st singer. I agree in thinking the 2nd singer was alright and suited the band but I also really like Soil's (also in the studio with thier new singer and looking to relase a new CD next year) latest CD so as far as I can see there is no great loss. Not a huge fan of either band but like thier style of music so will be checking out both offerings.

For the person who said Mezmerize is lacking that 'anthem', surely you've heard B.Y.O.B.?

I think that song is their best work. It really is a great song which typifies the style that System of created. I can understand people not really liking Mezmerize, as towards the end of the disc the tracks start getting a little more melodic and are far from brutal, but I actually appreciate that sort of music as a change from the more extreme metal bands I usually listen to.

Just my opinion though, oh and Hypnotize is very similar to Mezmerize, so if you didnt like the first, you probably wont like the second.
