With nothing about Fri game in mind, he’s definitely done. Whether he knows it or not or will acknowledge is different.

I will swear forever that his last Origin series killed him. Those QLD kns loaded up on him and smashed him like nothing else. And he kept coming, leading from the front, showing he was up for the fight.

But they smashed him every time.

And it looks like it’s really caught him this year. He’s slower, noticeably so, in all aspects of the game (so too JT)He doesn’t really intimidate anyone now.

His talent, experience and passion covered the physical fall off last year but Father Time is coming.

I hope we manage his minutes closely and as some else said, preserve him for finals.

I don’t think he has more than 40 mins in him anymore.

why? The bunnies are still using 2014 or maybe using it again, but better.
All these keyboarders in here saying he's done, just blows my mind. The guy is back 4 weeks early from a medial tear. & hes our best But apparently hes done, becaue he follows the game plan, & takes it on the 4th tackle.
I really hoped this site wouldnt be the smae as that disgraceful Sharks Facebook Pages. But at times I think its worse.

FTR our worst player by a country mile on Friday night was Lewis. he got absolutely toasted, for every try. Thats what happenswhen guys play at 70-80% fitness, like Gal & lewie currently are.

Yeah it’s like that with Holmes too, massive white anters and rumour mongers

Holmes is a problem with the running & the future of the club. Gallen isn't, he built the club. We have already lost the best winger in the game in JAC. We lost the best backrower in the game in Bird. We lost 2 of the best young centres in the comp in Scott & Ramien, whoe we should have paid overs for , but couldnt, because of Holmes salary cap chunk as one of our highest paid players & only offers specialist wing capabilitiis as a player.

Who signed off on the Holmes deal?
Flanno, Gorman, someone else?
I only ask because I wonder why you never take the people who agreed to the deal to task. Not having a go mate, just curious.

Well said mate. Some people like a balanced view & that is it.

He’s old & tired. Doesn’t mean we don’t respect him & appreciate what he’s done.

I don’t want him to finish as a has been but if we don’t manage him better, Queenslanders will have a field day at his expense.

we did not lose bird because of what we paid Val. We have room in our cap now to consider the likes of Woods this year.

Flanno could have but did not want to pay over a mill for anyone, let alone bird. That’s why birds not here. Blame flanno if you want, but for mine he was right.

Ramien: leaving for family reasons
Scott left as he had Bird and Loots infront of him.
Bird chased a big payday (& good on him)
JAC had Fek and holmes in front of him playing out of their skins running off Barba.
If we still have huuuuge money in the tank to throw at Cronk, Pearce, Woods, Barba etc then Holmes salary isnt a problem. FTR i know one of those blokes above personally and Holmes or his money had nothing to do with them leaving. It was purely for an opportunity to play firstys.

It seems like there is a lot of people on this forum with short memories.

I agree that Gallen isn't going as well as he usually does but give the guy a little credit. He's captained this side to the finals 3 years running and become the first and only premiership captain for the club.
The guy is coming back from a serious knee injury, of course he will be a bit slower and managing his game accordingly.

There's one thing that getting older makes no difference to and that is experience and Gallen has bucket loads of it. He has played the game at every level with distinction and deserves to be treated a bit better by fans coming the end of his career.

So what if currently he is a step slower than last year. It's up to Flanagan to work out a plan to get him to contribute for as many minutes as he can handle and in a smart way to benefit the team.
It plainly obvious he should be either coming from the bench as an impact player or on a high rotation, he is not a big minutes player anymore.
It is also obvious that he is being coached to be a battering ram in typical Flanno ball style instead of playing to his strengths which is to hit and offload.

We should be celebrating the guy not bagging him, after all, he's done a hell of a lot more than any of the keyboard heroes on this forum including myself have ever done for this club.

The bunnies game plan is not even close to their 2014 game plan. That game plan got madge sacked.

I dont relate thinking Gal has gone a year to long to not giving him credit. His record and love for the club is obvious. Just as obvious as the decline in his physical abilities.

Gal was our best. He's not anymore. He just needs to be managed effectively. He's still in our best 17, but unless he's utilised to his current strengths, he gets in the way.

Yeah think he should be limited to prop these days, plays like one already but less minutes. All moot anyways, looks like we are going for Woods

Flanno is going to have the challenge of inspiring Woods to be like our other two props.

Hope he can. A challenge not short of making cream buns out of cow shit.
