Tapas

Why has tapas become the latest phrase in pubs and restaurants? It's not like ordering your food from these establishments isn't already hard enough, but now they introduce this terminology just to sound sophisticated.

Tapas this, tapas that.... It's a bloody starter meal mate!

Dress it up all you like and then stick a toothpick through it, but don't charge me $8 for something that sounds fancy but isn't.

I went to a pub for this tapas bullshit. We paid 35 per head for 8 share trays of absolute shit.

Order a burger and chips if ya friends suggest tapas. Trust me.

Went to a tapas bar for a staff farewell dinner nearly just over a year ago. A few of us went to Harry's afterwards.

There is a vast difference between the "tapas" served up in many places and real tapas.
Many food establishments use the term "tapas" to describe tiny serves of not much at extortionate prices.

If you want tapas go to a Spanish eatery not a pub or a pretentious bar.

If you want proper Tapas, go to Captain Torres Spanish Restaurant on Liverpool Street.

http://www.capitantorres.com.au/

me and missus went there during the WC before heading down to the live site to watch the socceroos, the paella there was out of this f**king world!
as for spanish tapas, the best tapas resturant ive been too, hands down is El Bulli del Punto, which is at the spot in Randwick. Amazing food.

Bondi Social is great for a wide range of tapas style food, the sambucca meatballs are where its at there
Legends in Canberra is a great spanish tapas bar too

I love tapas, you get a chance to try different things without fully committing to one thing, me and my gf go all the time, 6 dishes, a bottle of win at a good tapas bar sets us back about $120 between us

If you want value for money - Churrasco's
http://www.churrasco.com.au/
$38 bucks (drinks and salad not incl.) a head and its all you can eat, they come around with freshly cooked brazillian food, steak, chicken, pork, sausage, all with different tastes and flavours, unlimited crack at the beans, and potatos and some variety of bbq'd fruits... Id f**king love for them to open one up in canberra. The first thing i do when i head back to Coogee is book in for dinner at Churrasco's.

Couldn't agree with you more mate. I tried the Paella there about 3 weeks ago and I loved every bit of it. We even had an entre of sizzling prawns, and they bring them out to you fresh from the kitchen... the prawns are literally still bubbling in front of you. The prices are very reasonable too - they make their money off the bar. Highly recommend the place to anyone.

I might add that I did try Spanish Paella in Barcelona, and I loved every bit of it and thought no other place would come close. Captain Torres had no problem achieving the same level of satisfaction :D

We got the chorizo as entre and it was piping hot, and spectacular. By the end of the meal i had made a right mess of myself, paella spots all over my jeans, if not for my gf hanging around id have licked the bastard dish clean!

Couldnt agree more with you on Captain Torres, anyone keen on Spanish food should definitely head there.
