Tapine issue gets ugly

I don't like this type of situation where a player can sign so close to the start of the season.
if it was us doing the signing, though, we'd be all for it.
If the NRL was to put a freeze on signings then players would still negotiate.
Tapine will get an early release. Might go ok for us if we don't have to pay him fully for the season.

Next will be Rochow - fingers crossed he re-signs with us.

1. brown was screaming from the rooftops in the press about basically doing this if he elected to leave the club. It's entirely consistent with what Brown had said prior to his signing
That's a blatant lie. All he said was Tapine won't be playing NRL if he signs with Canberra, that's it.

Tapine can go. Just end the farce. I would not be surprised if he goes to the Dogs or another top club this season if we can secure a decent forward. The club knows it's best bargaining chip is Tapine himself rather than the money he freed up.

And when his contract is up in Canberra the Roosters will slide right in to pick him back up.

It's brilliant, actually.

If Tapine plays a year in Bondi the Raiders might as well rip up his contract. If it took them 425k per year to get him to Canberra as it is I can't imagine him being too happy going down there after a year of playing in Bondi. If he has a break out year there he'll want even more money. It'll just get even messier.

Another note is I love how the Raiders won't cough anyone up but his manager expects us to simply release him to the club and then slams us for being so unprofessional for not doing so. Because that guy we got from the Raiders last year after releasing Leilua was a handy trade....right?

....

...

oh....

wait...

Raiders and Knights should work out a player swap for TPJ

We get Tapine early and you guys get TPJ for 12 months, back home, playing for his local team close to friends and family... with any luck he'd love it there and leave the f**king Broncos shit out of luck

Yeah we should trade the young fringe-firstgrader forward who's signed elsewhere for 2017 with another young fringe-firstgrader forward who's signed elsewhere for 2017. Love it.

F*ck Tapine, F*ck Banaghan, and F*ck the Raiders.

Put him in the local league to get belted by plumbers every week.

No he can't. Let's get someone in return for losing someone from our squad.

Telegraph is reporting he had a team weights session on Tuesday and trained with the team today, so the whole exile thing sounds like crap...

That is exactly what I was implying. When I say he is our bargaining chip I mean his value could enhance our ability to bring someone in with a swap. Speaking of which I heard a rather out there theory behind the Tapine Roosters approach today from an alleged insider. Sounds like BS but here goes. Joe can still back out of Raiders deal and sign with Roosters as I understand it. We are attempting to sign Cordner by offering Tapine plus cash. The catch is they get Joe and we get Cordner from next season.

I wouldn't want us further developing TPJ for the Broncos any more than I'd want us further developing Tapine for the Raiders lol.

The kid also has a history of being a dickhead and a fringe player currently. Completely not worth the effort for a year.

Agreed, f**k the lot of them. Sick of the club getting bullied by all and sundry. Let him rot for a year. We're perfectly within our right to do so, and we shouldn't be wasting another cent on his development. Canberra probably figured we'd roll over like we did with BJ.

As if it's not enough to ditch out on us after we stuck by him, I'm not holding that against him given the money at play. To have his manager carry on like this in the papers is a f**king joke, though. You were told you wouldn't be taking someone elses spot in first grade if you signed elsewhere, Joe. You knew full well and you went with the cash. Suck it up.

... and on TPJ, if I thought we were any sort of chance whatsoever at keeping him beyond this year, I'd explore that. Having him take a roster spot for 12 months that could be used on another long term project is just pointless to us at this stage.

May I say the alleged insider has shit spewing from his mouth.

As this gets uglier and sillier I'm agreeing more and more with Mac.

I train with a lot of guys who play local league. I don't think the drug testing is very stringent down there....
