The Fiji Sun reports that Wests Tigers NSW Cup‬ winger Taqele Naiyaravaro is being targeted by NSW Waratahs for the 2014 Super Rugby season.

He told the Sun, "Nothing has been agreed to with the Waratahs, we’re still negotiating things at the moment."

It would be a massively shame if we lost him to Super Rugby. He is on the verge of playing First Grade and a huge talent. It's a true loss for Rugby League if he defects to Union.

i've been worried that other clubs would target this guy. All of a sudden we have young backs coming out our asses but hopefully this guys will get a crack at FG soon....no idea how we would fit him in the team but really really want him to stay!

Can't keep them all.

I don't know much about this guy, however he seems to be behind a few others at the moment.

I know it's a bit in vogue to shift backs but can this guy play second row? He is a massive unit, strong and with a fair bit of pace. Does anyone know what his defence and fitness is like? Would he be able to play a bit like Tuaki who did stints in the forwards?

I just don't see a way for him to fit into the current or next years back-line, barring a number of injuries. Even without Ayshford, we have Richards, Lawrence, Koro, Nofo, Teddy and Simona to fit into the backs. With Naiya that makes 7 players for 5 positions (assuming Moltz, Utai, Reddy and Lote are moved on). Who misses out?

watching the Dogs v Storm game and just saw Mitch Brown score a try, it reminded me that not too long ago, many Tiger supporters were happy for him that he got a go at Canterbury. Many were pee'd off with Sheens for not giving him a go especially in front of Timid Tim.

My point is, we can't keep them all and we really have to support the team we have unless of cause they deserve to be bagged here

His defence is what is holding him back from first grade. A few times he has been caught out of position on the wing. He has played second row before and would be up to the task I think. He needs to work on his defence and he will be a great player.

He will play 80 minutes so has the fitness I guess to play, but is still developing. A go in the second row in first grade playing out wide would be a step in the right direction for him.

Reminds me of when T-Rex played on the wing. All he would need to do is work on his defense and we could have a high impact back rower coming through the ranks

I'd be more inclined to have him at Lock, allow him to play wider and get 1 on 1 with sliding defenders in the backline.

They won't stop him.

Then let's give it a go. An X factor like that is just what we need. Seriusly we are getting absolutely nothing from Anasta in the back row. We might as well try something.

I think he has a serious technique issue in defence though. He needs to learn how to tackle much more dominantly, which seems so weird to say given his immense size.

I agree, I would just use him as an impact player of the bench rather than keep him in the forwards. As a forward he doesnt provide the same damage as he does out wide. I just hope we can lock him up somehow.

We tried a few times with TNT in the forwards without any real success. Yet out wide on the wing he was a wrecking machine. I think the same may apply to the T

Yeah Taqele was playing in the Front row in NSW cup I believe but wasn't hugely successful. When he was moved to the wing he started tearing it up hardcore.

even if he was at centre he'd probably go ok. Would take him away from defusing bombs too, which he can be a bit hot and cold with.

Not sure his passing game is the best, he does have a reasonable offload though
