From memory didn't Murray lead the cowboys to their first ever finals 18 months later, first grand final a year later and completely change the fortunes of what was a struggling club?Well done Wests Tigers, you just equalled the pathetic 2002 NQ Cowboys record of sacking a head coach after 3 rounds of the regular season..............
Trivia, Murray Hurst coached his last NQ game against the Mark Murray coached Storm side only to be replaced by Graham Murray..........
Was henjak canned a few weeks from round 1?has anyone ever been sacked 3 games into a season? Seems awfully early (Matt Elliott would have to go close too)

CheersYes. The Broncos announced they'd sacked Henjak on Monday 21 February 2011. The first game of that season was on Friday 11 March 2011.
So sometimes sacking a coach early can have a good effect. Like cowboys or broncos who replaced Henjak with Griffin and went within one game of GO (their second best result of the last decade)Yeah 03 we missed the finals by about 2 wins and then made the finals in 04, GF 05.
IMO it was a combined effort of Muzz taking over as coach, Billy Johnstone whipping the boys into shape and Frank Stanton taking over as Temp CEO and then replaced Dennis Keefe (local guy) stepping up from the Tsv crocs. Once the front office got sorted it all fell into place.

Or sometimes you can punt a coach early and have 2 years McFadden or even worse, Langmack
Lol @ Blocker's solution: 'more forwards'I'm not sure why some on this board like to put the boot into Blocker. He's given some interesting insight into the problems at the Tigers.
"BALMAIN legend Steve Roach says he was shocked by the sacking of Wests Tigers coach Jason Taylor, seeing it as a shortsighted solution to a range of broader problems.
Taylor was axed after two big losses from the first three games, with Sunday’s 40-point thrashing to the Raiders the straw that broke the camel’s back.
But regardless of who the long-term appointment is to replace him, Roach is worried the club has shortcomings that won’t be overcome.
One of his biggest concerns is a recruitment policy that has become obsessed with retaining the ‘big four’ at the expense of a forward pack that can compete against monsters like Canberra’s.
He says no coach can put in place a premiership winning game plan if the pack’s getting bullied, identifying the departure of Gareth Ellis at the end of 2012 as a moment the club has never recovered from.
“Aaron Woods has been carrying that pack for five years,” Roach told foxsports.com.au.
“ ... The Tigers have never been the same since Gareth Ellis retired. He was our leader and we never replaced him with a tough, hard edged type of player.
“If you want Woodsy to be your captain and you want him to be one of the greats of your club, well he needs help, he can’t do it on his own.
“He’s got no one else and that’s not being disrespectful to the other blokes who are playing, we need one more metre eater in the middle of the ruck, a big bopper, then all of those kids like Jesse Sue and Ava Seumanufagai and all those blokes will be better players."

Jason Taylor has approached South Sydney for an assistant coaching position, in the hope that he can replace Michael McGuire when he is sacked. .
Meanwhile the rumour is that the Tigers will approach Graham Murray to fill Taylor's position as the Tiger's Head Coach.
