I'd be so excited to see something similar to that or Big Micks side. I really love the thought of Michael Gordon in the centres also. But with so much competition for the centres and him being the best winger we have Matt Elliott isn't likely to give him the chance.

I'd rather have Nathan Smith than Josh Bateman. Very underweight.

Agree about Paulo but Penese just needs a bit more time in the NYC for mine
As for Bateman I rate him higher than Smith, I like what I saw last year, whilst no champion I think he offers more than Smith

I would prefer a full strenghth side for the trails insted of the teams mixed.
If we take this mixed team which is atracted to losing then we will not have confidence in our performance when it comes to the real thing.

Went with Romelo as half, as the other options aren't as sound defensively. My next
choice would have been Iselin. Can't say exactly why, but last year I lost a little faith
in Sammut. I don't want to see Romelo used as a hooker, we've already got two good
ones.

The quality of a teams's bench ultimately dictates how good the side performs.

I actually rate the bloke when he has a go. He is fast for a big bloke and is a real handful for opposition defences.

No idea what's going on with lewis on the bench. I'll forgive Elliott because it's only a trial but a player of his quality deserves to be in the starting lineup IMO. Other than that I like the side.

Which still leaves the question of where Lewis and Smith fit into things, though I ask the question with my own bias being towards lewis playing lock.
