Hunt and Green on the wings
Benji named and Hutchinson not in the squad
Ioane and Nabuli on an extended bench

I doubt Benji will play and expect to see a few surprises

Star St George Illawarra playmaker Benji Marshall is set to sit out Friday's crucial NRL round 23 clash with Brisbane due to a leg injury.

Marshall suffered a grade one hamstring strain in the Dragons' thumping of the Warriors in Wellington last weekend.

The former Kiwi international has flown with his team to Brisbane from New Zealand, but club medical staff confirmed on Tuesday the injury will likely rule him out of the Suncorp Stadium encounter against the Broncos.

However he will return for the Dragons' next game against Penrith on Thursday week.

Coach Paul McGregor will make a decision on Friday on the fitness of three-quarter Dylan Farrell as he continues to battle a back complaint after he was a last-minute withdrawal in Wellington.

Will Matthews suffered a dislocated shoulder against the Warriors. He will visit a specialist on Friday to determine whether he will need surgery which will end his season or whether he can play on in 2015.

Green on wing oh dear theres trouble , i hope they dont resign him, poor selection . I can see green being pummled ,too slow and not a strong defender.
When we won games in a row Eto was there and defend ok and was ok under the highball.
I would have played Marketo with gareth and add Iaone to the bench

Dragons website has Benji being given until Friday
Better to rest him IMO in case he exacerbates the injury

Don't get Green being named over Tabuli tbh. Don't rate Nabuli, but he's far more suited to wing than Green.

merrin must start ahead of creagh, with cooper moving back to prop ...but they won't dare move creagh to the bench ffs.
Green on the wing?? Jesus I thought they finally realised this season he is a backrower, now returns to the backline is weird...

Best to rest barge ass and make sure he is 100% for the following matches. If we're serious we should be able to win this one without him....otherwise we don't deserve to be talking finals footy anyway

Here's how I see it
Benji won't play
Jake to 5/8
Green to back row bench
Nabuli to the wing
You know it makes sense
Oh and Dragons by 1

The way I saw JDB and Marketo defend on that right edge last week, in comparison to Marshall and Matatiua, wow, what a difference. And Matatuia and Aitken seemed to form a bit of a combo on that left edge as well.

Mary needs to go with what worked last week IMO.

P.S. JDB, even if not playing 5/8, is no longer a bench player. He needs to start.

I can't believe Green keeps getting a run..wing is a specialist job,you just can't throw a bloke onto a wing spot who has been turned into a back rower..

I know we have 2 wingers injured but please Mary not Green anyone but him.

Inwould have said Rein is our worst player but Green takes that award. Why is he still getting picked. Surely we have better options.

Anyone got some thoughts on Vaivai form watching him in the cutters?

This was taken from an article re: under 20's team of the year '09... gotta be a better option than Green.
No doubt Vaivai's got a checked past, wondering if it's holding him back..

Taioalo Vaivai

With a rare turn of pace and a brilliant ability to offload, Vaivai was widely regarded as one of the can’t miss kids in the class of 2009. He made his first grade debut that season, scoring a try in the Rabbitohs 40-10 defeat to Penrith in Round 24.

Injuries and poor form saw him play just one game in the big leagues in 2010 and he was sacked by the Rabbitohs early the following year after he was found guilty of assault occasioning actual bodily harm on his girlfriend. He was sacked by Souths and became Phil Gould’s first signing for Penrith but failed to show much in seven appearances for the injury hit mountain men. He’s spent the last few seasons playing for the Illawarra Cutters in the NSW Cup.
