The P/L side to play the first trial versus the Warriors has been announced.

1. Reece SIMMONDS (c)
2. Nick YOUNGQUEST
3. Andrew FREW
4. Luke ROBERTS
5. Ben CREAGH
6. Clint GREENSHIELDS
7. Mathew HEAD
8. David TANGATA-TOA
9. Aaron GORRELL
10. Justin POORE/Brett WHITE
11. Bryan NORRIE
12. Stacey KATU
13. Ryan POWELL

14. Edwin ASOTASI
15. Shane SHACKLETON
16. Jarrod DYKES
17. Aaron BEATH
18. Robert HENARE
19. Jay VAN MEEGEN
23. Shaun VIDITO
25. Lee BENNETT

I notice players such as Leyshon, Payne, Ellem, Henderson, Palu and D. Howell aren't in this team. Maybe that means they'll play in the charity shield. M. Howell and Olzard are injured.

From this team I guess one wing spot in F G is still up for grabs as all the options after Blacklock are playing in this game.

Would you know anything about players listed from number 15 -19, was wondering if J.Dyjes is Adams brother, & R.Henare is the same guys who played with us a few years ago..

Dykes is a prop from Parra's P/L team. He is Adam's brother. I think Shackleton comes from the Sydney Bulls, back rower. Beath, Henare and Van Meegan are from the Illawarra district. One is a back rower, another a prop, the other one I don't know and I don't know which position belongs to who.

Thats a Pretty Hot side for a Premier League Squad. the backs are first class. Greenshields, i know nothing about. our Back 3 in the scrum need to show me something.

Powell needs to do more. HJe is no game breaker but looks to be a Worker more than a Creator of Damaging attacker/Defender.

Standard. as is Norrie. Norrie has a bit more potential IMHO. But not Much more. I will wait to see him play with the big boys first, and see if he is still growing.

But Luke Roberts may make the transission to the Backrow. he is too Big for the Centres. he is like Mal Meninga.= in Build.

Dragons media release:

Youngquest Cleared to Play Trial Match in NZ

Dragons recruit Nick Younquest has overcome an ankle injury from the World Sevens on Sunday for selection in a trial against the Warriors in New Zealand next week.

Youngquest, who suffered minor ankle ligament strain in the clash with Lebanon, is one of six new recruits named in the Dragons Premier League trial team to play at Waikato Stadium, Hamilton, on Thursday, February 5.

Other newcomers in the team to be captained by Reece Simmonds, who was the Dragons Sevens skipper, include Andrew Frew, Luke Roberts (played in Sevens), Clint Greenshields, David Tangata-toa and Stacey Katu.

Does anyone know if this game is going to be on foxtel??? Or is the only way to see it is to go to NZ?

I doubt there'll be any TV coverage as it's only a premier league trial. The Warriors won't even be sending their F/G team. I think the only media that will cover this match will be the net. Most F/G trial matches don't get media coverage, so I can't see a P/L trial getting any.

Ozbash and AliN will be there and are taking some pics. It'll be posted on LU.
I'll ask them to send us the results so we get it here asap.

Good luck Saints...great way to begin a great season...against a great club.

It'll be good to see our young talent, eager to impress, giving the incumbents some warning

Go the warriors

I thought I recognised that name. This kid is a hooker who makes a Richard Swain amount of tackles and is quite nippy.

If he is that makes...5 hookers.

Riddell
Withers
Young
Gorrell
Humphreys

All played First Grade ?? High on Competition. Looks as though Riddell better be on good behaviour this season.

Riddell will now know that he's not indispensible, I'm sure he'll have a huge year!

Aaron Gorrell's return excites me, he's a no-nonsense footballer, who's as tough as nails, whilst I still think Lincoln Withers is gonna be the surprise packet of 2004.

As Big Kev would say... I'M EXCITED !!! :D

Gorrell is one of those players who has huge potential. His effort and kicking game in that Warriors match in 2002 was one of the best I've ever seen from a stand-in half.
If he can keep things in order, he'll go all the way.
