So how does it works again ? Ticketed members get emailed a secret word or something ? I’m serious BTW, how does a season ticket holder actually get a seat ?

I really hope Carty gets the utility spot on the bench this week.

Whatever fitness issue Moses had he seems to be over it and Carty could do a job at 5/8 and Dylbags has upped his playmaker role this season so, in the likelihood of Mitch having to come off, I think it's a gamble we need to take.

We switched off at the end of the Storm game and when you look at Ice's lack of interest in defense, it really looked like fatigue to me and we need to have a utility who can play in the halves and back row and Carty is the man who can do this for us. We need to use our whole bench as there is more intensity in the finals.

Sitting JA on the bench for 75 mins is not gonna get us to the GF.

I dont think its helping Jake's development as a halfback playing 5 mins at the end of matches in a foreign position.

What's it achieving for Jake.

For 2023 Arthur needs to develop as a back-up dummy half... so his season next year should start at #9 in reggies, and take things from there.

But for the next week at least, I agree with Twizzle and think we need Cartwright in the 17 (at Arthur's expense).

Cartwright only seems to get a run when we play the panthers, so he is probably a shoe in.

in saying that I’m almost certain we’ll name the exact same 17, with any potential changes not known until an hour prior.

tbh I would go with a bench of

matto
Kaufusi
Cartwright
Brown

But it won’t happen

Agree, and hope at least the Cartwright aspect will happen - as it seems coach favours having Cartwright on hand against the Panthers style of play.

Since Makatoa has been selected for all but 2 games - and Kaufusi for all 24 - after Brown dropped in the pecking order at some point in the season, I don't think he's got enough game time under his belt to displace either of those guys in the coach's selections. But having Nathan available as an 18th man - and promoted into the top 17 if we have any injuries in this or future weeks - will be very handy indeed.

Re the bench

What we want is Lane and Ice playing 80 minutes.
We also want Jnr and Matto and RCG playing big minutes through the middle
Marata should start at 13 and play 25 through the middle as well
Oregan should also get a 25 minute stir through the middle
How many minutes are left??

Fair enough if you think Ice needs a rest. He didn't look tired to me, he just clocked off. And Carty is NOT a substitute out wide for defensive alertness...

We just need a couple of guys on the bench in case of injury/ HIA.
Marata covers the 2nd rowers out wide - so who comes on the bench to cover him in the middle in case he needs to shuffle wide? Make? Then we need spine cover. Who can play at 9? Jake.

Semi final footy is another beast. Expecting our edge players to play 80 minutes could be a huge ask. In Bryce’s few games for us he hasnt been bad at all in d. If you’re going to say Jake can play 9, you may as well say so can Marata, Gutho, brown, Bryce and a few others. I’d go with rein on the bench rather than Jake.

I think Papali'i shouldn't play more then 65mins.
Unsure how I'd pace those 60-65mins. I'd be tempted off the bench and first change. Matto starting in 2nd row and moving to lock when Papali'i comes on.

I watched Rein in NSW CUP. The bloke isn't good enough to warrant a bench spot. If Mahoney went down then fair enough but he would add little off the bench as far as spark.

JA I doubt gets picked. Bryce was the only guy who played well in the NSW CUP semi.

Tevita and Matalee have NRL futures I think. Both make good meters per carry. Tevita barely misses a tackle. They'd be the two guys I'd probably be putting energy into.
Rodwell and El Zakhem are ok. I reckon both however have hit there ceilings and even though currently are superior then the other two I mentioned I reckon Tevita and Matalee have a lot more potential. Fitness is the biggest difference right now. A big off season and both could make the leap next season.

Rodwell is a solid toiler. I honestly wouldn't expect much from the bloke.

Did you see the NSW Cup semi final ? Too many errors and half arsed efforts. Good that he’s going around next year as we need experienced leadership in Cup, but now is not the time to be playing Rein in NRL in a 1 v 4 match.

Carty is also an option for utility however can he be trusted ? He is still that player who is lazy in defence and won’t bend his back. Doesn’t really have a kicking game other than a grubber and doesn’t really have a reliable accurate long spread ball to give us the width that we need.

I don’t think that we should be focused on who can do a job for 5 mins, it’s more about who can do a job for 30+ mins if we get a crucial injury or HIA.
