Looks like it might be Doorey, Luca, Sammy and maybe Guymer (assuming matto/offa are locked in) fighting it out for 2, maybe 3 bench spots (depending if he carry a utility).

Yes I know but I was correcting Phantom who posted he thought JAC was a chance of getting a spot in the side in Round 1 if fit .... It won't matter how fit he is come March 9, he can't play....

Maybe it's just seeing Lussick's name in the starting jersey, and Hands way down the reserves?

Maybe it's seeing a middle rotation of Williams, Greig, Matterson (presumably) and [insert name here] from the other edge forwards?

Sure, Paulo and Lane are injured - and maybe Ofahengue is being punished for pantsing Zac... so maybe those middles look better in Round 1 or 2?

At least Hopgood is there I guess. And we have a lot of back-ups having a go... which I guess is the purpose of a trial.

Thanks... yes, I'd forgotten JAC still had some more suspension to serve, after getting one week off from All Stars. So Simonssen for Tago in R1, and then presumably Addo-Carr for Russell when free to play.

Think of it as playing with two locks and one prop. There's no rule saying you need two big middles. Penrith have been playing with zero.

I do think Russell and Tago are best available, until any of the others are ready. Russell's done it before (and is now a rep player!) and we relied on Tago for a whole month last season. I don't think Penisni Jr or AMS have shown/done enough to earn a NRL debut.

Assuming, the side is close to the round one side (bar injuries, players making case with some good trial form), interested in the following:

- where is Williams playing, edge or middle, is he starting
- depending on above, who is the other starting middle or edge (assuming Paulo and Kelma are locks)
- bench forwards, who is looking likely to get a start, we have a few options
- do we go with a bench utility? If so is it papa? Or is smith making a case for the role
- any rookie impressing the brains trust

Maybe Samrani who can cover backs and edge forward ?
