I doubt Williams will be a first choice edge forward but Ryles might surprise. I’m keen to see if Guymer is an edge forward option. I assume Tuilagi and Cartwright will be the merkins, and we’ll soon buy a good one for 2026.
If Dev players can be used from Round 1, don't we really have 35 in the squad and then (say) 45 from Rnd 11 ?Round 1 and we're already using 3 players outside of the Top 30...
Given the opponent and the weaknesses in the rest of the squad, we've obviously taken the approach to not bother this week by resting Moses. Interesting to see how that plays out with the rest of the team to take the field.^^^^
The Parramatta Eels have confirmed their squad to face the Melbourne Storm in their first match of the 2025 season at AAMI Park, Melbourne on Sunday evening.
New recruits Isaiah Iongi, Zac Lomax, Ronald Volkman and Jack Williams are set to make their official Eels debuts, becoming Eels #851, #852, #853 and #854 respectively.
Off the back of his contract upgrade, Ryley Smith has also been named to make his Eels debut from the interchange as Eel #855.
Ronald Volkman has been named as the starting halfback in the absence of captain Mitch Moses, who misses Round 1 due to soreness from a previous injury.
Head Coach Jason Ryles said, “Mitch is experiencing soreness from a previous injury, we’re taking a cautious approach to ensure his foot heals properly and he can play his best football for the team. We will continue to monitor Mitch’s recovery and make an assessment on a return date next week.”
Junior Paulo will Captain the side, and the Eels will kick off against the Storm on Sunday 9 March at 4:05pm at AAMI Park, Melbourne.
You reckon we are tanking ?Given the opponent and the weaknesses in the rest of the squad, we've obviously taken the approach to not bother this week by resting Moses. Interesting to see how that plays out with the rest of the team to take the field.
No wonder he quickly re-signed. He's probably down for an amputation knowing our luck.Moses injury must be worse than thought..
No, just sacrificing taking a risk for a probable loss. You reckon we are tanking ?
