I thinknits refreshing to see our academy starting to produce NRL players.

Haze,Russel,Pensini,JA all in the space of a year realy. That's a very positive sign. Brown was only a few years prior. Potential that 5/7 in the backline will.be our juniors. 6 if we count Moses who I beleive was part of club at some point?

I'm also not a fan of JA.l at this stage. I reckon he looks like he is in slow motion and bog average.
But he was 18yrs old last year and that's very young for NRL. They may see him as a project for 2 or 3 yrs down the track.

BA could be the king of plenty of subtle changes to inject him.
Taking Mahoney off to bring in W.Smith hardly made the side better. It just gave Reed a rest.

There is also the possibility of a different style for a 2nd half if things aren't working.
Or maybe Gutherson will slot into Hooker and Russel to fullback with Blake on wing. All of a sudden the defense has all these different attacking raids to defend and one's they don't see often.
Might be thinking outside the box. Or it may just be Moses or Brown are not 100%
Who knows

I put it down to three things:

1. Adaptability. BA knows the team needs to get comfortable being uncomfortable. This may mean playing out of position to accommodate injuries or unexpected scenarios.

2. A reward for off-season effort. By all reports, Stone and Arthur were two of the best performers. It shows the rest of the squad if you're willing to bust your arse, you'll be rewarded. The last two bench spots will eventually be filled with Brown and Niukore anyway, and;

3. We could name a squad of 16 and manage. Whoever gets that last spot on the bench isn't going to see big game time regardless.

One thing we know for sure, it's never too soon to criticise.

FFS some people don’t understand what’s required to win a premiership. One eyed, single mindedness that everything is periphery to us winning the premiership! The Smugs proved it, the Scums proved it for decades, the Rorters, Sharks and Souffs proved it.
Get on f**ken board people!

my concern isnt who BA has selected on the bench, its BA going to use his bench???? or is he going to have a couple of guys like JA and Stone playing 15 mins between them??? I really hope he has learned how to manage the players workload over a whole season and not front load all their energy.

If he's playing different people on the bench and leaving players out that merkins think should be played then he's already showing that he is conscious of managing workloads.

Everyone will get a run this year and players that need a rest will get it because finally we have depth.

On the bench, it just might be that Stone is being picked as a genuine replacement forward and nothing else, which would kinda negate the opposition to having Shrub on account of Stone also being a utility.

He ( Stone ) won't need to do big minutes in a rotation, and his defence is well and truly NRL standard, the merkin has great technique, hits like a f**king freight train and plays well above his weight in that regard.

Sean Russell is first drop fullback when Shrub is on the bench.

I think we are trying to move away from Marata being our backline solution because whilst he’s solid, he gets stood up and doesn’t offer much when there is half a chance.

So the coach is attempting to reshuffle numerous crucial positions, just to avoid Marata playing in the centres? Yeah nah.
