We had the third best defensive record in the comp the previous two seasons. Something has really gone amiss this season.

Has to be the fact a few players are leaving at seasons end.. They have all ready packed up

Mahoney has missed a lot more tackles this year: 1.8 per game vs 3.3. An extra 1.5 per game doesn't look like much (though it's nearly doube) but it points to a bigger story about how every tackle is just that little bit weaker. He's also set up far fewer tries (13 vs 5) but has scored more (3 vs 8), which probably points more to a tactical change than a drop in attacking ability. But he is definitely worse in defence. I'm glad we didn't take the risk and match Canterbury's offer. He might never get back to 2021 form.
