Very disappointed you guys are resting players. Especially after such a great win.

Obviously neither team has much to gain by winning (Eels win and the reward is potentially playing Storm again, Panthers win or lose face Souths)but these games are usually one the players love to step up for. Hopefully we get a full strength clash in finals atleast.

Thoughts on whether we should rest this many? I can see that we are trying to address the issue of burn out but if we get belted this weekend does it knock our confidence ahead of the finals?

I reckon you get as many players rested as possible. They would all be carrying a niggle or two and this is a perfect opportunity to provide a little freshen up. Week one of the finals won't be easy no matter who we face.

I don’t much like us resting too many and copping a pasting, either, but on the flip side, a few of these guys really need a break.

It's also about avoiding a repeat of last year where less experienced players need to be called upon in a crucial finals match as was the case last year when we lost 3 outside backs for the game against Souffs.

Bea does the same thing and gets accused of not learning from his mistakes.
Bea does something different to improve our odds and people want to question whether it's a good idea.

I’m not a fan. I reckon we are more of a momentum team and this disruption / potential blow out could halt the momentum we have built over the last 2 weeks.

No. It's a mental thing. If they know they didn't take the game seriously, they can't have their confidence broken.

Also, if we meet the Panthers again in the semis, they might be over confident and take us lightly.

Agreed. It was partly why I was interested in people’s thoughts now rather than afterwards.

Gutho and Marata definitely given they are carrying injuries.
Lane would depend on severity of head knock otherwise I’d play him.
I would’ve rested Junior anyway. Maybe Nrown as well.
Papali’i is probably half/half - I’d say reduced game time regardless.
Moses/Drown fine to play but probably take Moses (and Lussick) off early.
Of the non top 17 players, so to give them some game time in case of injuries in finals, Smith and Russell definitely need game time. The lesser forwards (Greig, Stone, etc) could use game time but it’s offset by RCG and to a lesser extent Oregon needing runs if available.
