I find it easier to just ignore the selection now that the season is under way. Nobody can change it and if the players that you want selected arent there then its easy to get overly negative.
Just hope that the team selected plays well and Dragons win. Even if we do have to cheer on Lafai....
Sunday, a tough physical local derby, hopefully we come out on top!

I'm sitting here wondering and maybe this should be a new thread page (if so feel free) but i throw this out to everyone and welcome opinions:

McGregor was one of the best centres in the league in his day, a Origin and International ! But what is he seeing that 99% of us aren't seeing ?? What are we so blindly missing ?? 99% of the forum sees Mann and Milne as our best centres and also Dugan, everyone else including commentators/ past legends etc sees Dugan as a must in the centres and our best option blah blah but my point is McGregor persists with Aitken and Lafai !!! What is he seeing that everyone else can't see ????

You would think that with his experience and pedigree at the very least positions 1 to 5 would be perfect !!!

It's becoming so predictable that I'm not even disappointed anymore.

I get it...week 1 we were awesome so keep the same team. Week 2 we sucked, but it might've just been a blip on the radar so we'll give them another go in week 3.

I think we all know what will happen. The forwards may bounce back and get over or at least hold the Sharks forwards, but I expect their backs to carve through us out wide. Aitken on last week's form will be spinning like a bottle top and Lafai will slide, slide...just keep sliding.

Of course i hope for the best and will watch in my Dragons finest, but I don't have a good feeling about this. Even more so the dent to confidence a big loss may bring.

Id love to see Dufty given a go at F/B but if he is not in their plan and Field is the chosen F/B then lets do it.
My team
1. Field (if hes our supposed future fullback)
2. Dufty
3. Milne
4. Dugan - Lets just get it over with already and move him to the centres
5. McDonald
6. Widdop - Say what we want but he is in form at the moment but needs more ball
7. Mann - Has to be given a run and is better than McCrone plus Field Dufty and Mann can be rotated during the game if required.
8. Vaughan
9. McInnes
10.Sims
11. Thompson
12.Frizzell
13. DeBelin

14. Packer - I feel he is better coming off the bench as an impact player and his best games have shown this
15. Host
16. Leilua
17. Aitken - Can cover backline by coming into centres as there is plenty of shuffling options on the field and can also possibly play as a running outside back

I wouldn't mind that line up too much. I think Widdop played well in the first game but I do not think he played well in the second one. I still believe to really get the value out of Hunt when he arrives we need a top class 5/8 to go along with him. I don't think Widdop is that player and the club should bite the bullet this year and see what we have.

With a backline of Milne, McDonald, Dugan and speedsters like Field and Dufty (even though I don't think they're ready just yet) looks exciting.

This is a transition year and we need to find out if these young guys can step up so that if we need to look outside the club we have time.

A good sportsman does not necessarily translate to being a good coach. Mary has no coaching achievements to speak of.

Mary is a pig headed idiot, that loves to thumb his nose at anyone who wants to go against the people he recruited.
Hence we have Lafai an ineffectual centre and Hasler reject.

NRL Team: Round 3 v Cronulla Sharks
Tue 14th March, 04:01PM
A A

St George Illawarra coach Paul McGregor has named his mandatory 21-man squad for the Dragons' Round 3 clash against the Cronulla Sharks at Southern Cross Group Stadium this Sunday, March 19.

The Dragons are unchanged following their disappointing 34-16 loss to the Parramatta Eels last weekend in Wollongong.

Utility Jai Field (ribs) has been named in the squad as a reserve after he was ruled out late from last weekend's game, as has back-rower Tyson Frizell (concussion) who failed to finish last week's game.

Skipper Gareth Widdop was hopeful of the Dragons bouncing back against their local rivals this weekend.

"We were certainly inconsistent. Right from kick-off, we made it hard for ourselves," Widdop said.

"For us this weekend it's about focusing on what we have to do. It's going to be a tough match so we'll have to go there with a good attitude.

"The boys are really excited for it."

Analysis paralysis?

Playing favourites?

Vested self interest?

Fear of change?

Lack of vision?

Who can say?

What is clearly evident is that team selection has to date not reflected the potential best 17 being selected.

Instead the same players are repeatedly selected, even after poor performances, with little evidence of an attempt to rectify issues, or even try new combinations.

Hopefully this week we see some changes to improve our centres at least.

Milne is a must imo.
Dragsters you forgot to put on the list
Just plain Dumb

Unfortunately McNugget is so lacking confidence in his own ability he will stick with the current squad until it is too late using the rationale that because they played so well in the first round it is only a matter of time before they click again. He does not have the vision to be able to make changes to a side to improve their performance. Hence Mann and Milne are destined to be left out until injury forces a change in personnel. This is McNugget's great weakness as a coach ..his predecessor Price was exactly the same...cutting and pasting the same team week in, week out no matter how they played and what the result!!!

It's only the squad u will find that Aiken will drop for Mann and field will come into bench
BS. There is now way that Mann will play in place of Aitken. Just because you want it to happen doesn't mean that it will.

Yep......so it will be about 34-6 Sharks, if it ins't and the players work it out and win, then I am happy to say I WAS WRONG and I will shut the f..k up for the rest of 2017 no matter what!! PS: It could get to 50 vs 6, I hope not, but it may......

Ha ha ha, maybe if they all had a dose of peptides or grew some balls leading into the game. Otherwise, NO f**k...g chance. If I am wrong, yes, crucify me, I take ownership!
I bet you said the same thing against panthers round 1. Exactly same team beat the panthers 42-10. What do you put that down to?
