We tried to get Davey in the off season from Manly. In fact IIRC Mole (?) even announced it, then Gus trumped us and paid more. So I reckon we saw Davey as a replacement for Marata.

Defo.... I do think Gutho is the best #1 for us for the time being... don't know in 2 years time though.

Maybe he still will be. But if Sanders is all he's cracked up to be, then we could lose him coz Dyl and Mitch is there.

So if we also want an X-factor, Dyl could be that at 1. Which leaves an opening in the halves. The only issue with Dyl at 6 could be his concentration. You've seen Dyl chase defenders out of no where so his will is there. He has a gr8 running game and can pass. He has SPEED and he can defend. He seems a natural so should be gr8 under the high ball. The other thing is whether he can organize the defense.

I think Gutho can play anywhere. He played wing and became really good at it. He was bad at the beginning but worked his way through it.

He could even play 13 like cam murray or the halves

I can't see how he couldnt play well at 9 either. He is a leader on the field with gr8 determination and gives a shit.


Back in the old days, we lost Hodgkinson and Maloney because we had set halves ( i think it was Mortz and Robson) can't remember.

Well Hodkinson and Maloney went onto play for NSW and I think they both won a premiership.

Mortz and Robson died out.

We lost Tonga who went on to play SOO and Oz (i think) and we lost him because we had Vaeliki and Lyon. Lyon left us and Tonga would've been great.

What I am saying is that, if a youngster is all that he is cracked up to be, we need to make way for him or be flexible.

Guth can play in a lot of positions and I think he can do well in most of them
