Depends on if you're looking at players who have played the entire (or most of the) decade, or if you pick the the best players who have played in the past decade even if it's only been for a season or two. Tuqiri is the most obvious one who springs to mind. If you use the former classification then he doesn't come anywhere near the team, but for the couple of seasons he was playing league he was obviously the best winger the game has had in the last decade.

Who do you rate as the 17 best players this decade?

For me it's:
1. Lockyer (c)
2. Inglis
3. Girdler
4. Hodges
5. Gasnier
6. Fittler
7. Johns
8. Webcke
9. Buderus
10. Price
11. Tallis
12. Hindmarsh
13. Kennedy

14. Morley
15. Civoniceiva
16. SBW - The guy is a douche but he was a great player.
17. Wing

Nice side...but Gasnier on teh wing, Girdler in the centres? switch em around imo.

Considering that I will not select fullbacks or centre on the wing (Gasnier and Mini).

Lockyer
Tuqiri
Gasnier
Hodges
Tahu
Fittler
Johns
Webke
Buderus
Price
Hindmarsh
Tallis
Kennedy

Thurston
Civanoceva
Wiki
Menzies

I cant leave any of these players out of the team if i tried IMO, I think that Gasnier would be the most vulnerable to loss his spot to guys like Inglus, Lyon (pre having a cry and flying to england). That does say alot about that team esp with guys like Johns, Lockyer, Hindy and Webke would be in most team since 1901

Sub in Morley for Wiki and SBW for Thurston and that's exactly what I'd have

Yer that was the hardest part, I was tossing up between Morley and Wiki... but SBW is up against guys like Hindy, Morley, Tallis, Kennedy, Wiki in the backrow. These guys at their best were just as good if not better than SBW and played for larger poritions of the decade. I remember a young Hindmarsh destroying teams liek SBW did, same as Tallis, Kennedy did it his whole carrer and Morley and Wiki when on were in their own class. I might swap Morley or Thurston, but for the majority of the last 10 years a interchange hooker/half/utility has been there and Thurston best fills that for me.

SBW did things on the field that no other backrower was capable of. He carried a useless Bulldogs side on his back, and had that X-Factor about him that just means he demands selection for mine. He is the ultimate modern-day backrower.

Coupled with the fact that I don't think Thurston dominates on a regular enough basis.

uhh clyde retired in 2000.

Mullins didn't really play enough games this decade. His best years were 94-97.
