Team v Broncos

'The definition of insanity is doing the same things over and over, and expecting a different result'.

That's about all I have to say.

Except to say that the media are just as weak as piss.

The Herald, and David Skipwith (Hi David, I know for a fact you journos read this site for ideas) ran with the fact that Matulino and Ayshford were going to be dropped. It was obvious this was guess work, as no one picks a side the night of a game, before a bye.

Then...this! Wholesale changes were predicted in the immediate aftermath, but the likes of prop Ben Matulino and centre Blake Ayshford, who had unhappy outings, may be granted a reprieve as they come off a bye round looking to resurrect their finals hopes.

Never believe a word you read.

Can't see why he is persisting with TL, this is game 5 named in the halves with 1 win from 4.

Broncos by plenty.

Sadly you guys are a basket case now, not epic like Parra ATM, your roster is fine, just not playing anywhere near where they can.

Making them lose is what's he hired for. Conspiracy. So in that regard, he's a doing really good.

Don't actually mind the team as much as previous weeks. Wright is gorne (woohoo)
Would rather see either Lolohea at 5/8th or Hingano/Lino there over Leuluai
Also would like to see Lane in the mix.

I'd like to see Ali in the mix sometime, but if I'm being completely honest - more for nostalgic reasons than anything.

The reality is if we haven't dumped Leuluai by now, we will never dump him. He's hardly gone above this level, so we're going to keep losing unless he magically finds a new gear.

Either that or Luke and/or Tui do a lot more creative work, or Johnson doubles his attacking work rate. Don't see either happening.

Dropping Jazz is absolute madness, I thought we benched him just to give Luke his home town dig (fat lot of good that did). Why would you drop him altogether?

Someone mentioned Ali, we might as well give him a go now with our season where it is, on the knife edge. Put him on the bench and get Tui and SJ running behind him.

Everyone loves to bag Wright, and I get it - but seriously, dropping a winger means f**k all - especially give he's not error ridden

But pretty clear McFadden doesn't have a clue what to do other than to switch wings, and adjust the bench - he's f**king useless, and so is the team - they'll pick up some ground during Origin, but I've seen enough to call it

Doubly so in this team where we don't use our wingers.
They basically become hit up men (Manu), and fringe defenders (not Manu)

Dropping Wright solves nothing.

The Broncos are only sitting out Oates and Gillette, otherwise they're still strong with their YOUNG halves pairing of Hunt and Milford.

Young halves pairing hmm.. I wonder if we can do that.. oh that's right we can with Tui and SJ!!

Thomas the Tank Engine is a NRL star, and demands a place in the #6 jumper - obviously... surely all he brings to the table is obvious, even to the casual observer

Thomas the old engine brings EXACTLY what Robson brings, only a little bit faster. However you don't get anything really DIFFERENT when you pick either over the other.

They run the set exactly the same as each other and accordingly to Cappys book. That's why they get the nod.

Robson is an experienced but average *half*
Thomas is a utility with a solid tackle

Two very different players. One is not a half.

They play EXACTLY the same though when running the sets. You're right but you don't get anything REALLY different. Also I'd rate the younger Leuluai a little bit better. Geez they both suck.

Earlier in the year we sucked with Robson. Now with Leuluai it's still the SAME. Should we try something different or go back to Robson?

Robson > Leuluai as a half - but both are pretty poor at this level

Leuluai > Robson as a bench utility

Both seem like good characters

But it's not really the point - either of them in the halves is poor - they're hanging on to some hope we'll scrape into the 8, but even if by some miracle (because in reality we're with Newcastle, the Roosters and the Tigers as the bottom feeders) we do it will be on the back of the origin period, and we're clearly a shit team.

All our geniused coach has done all year is shuffle the fringe forwards - that simply won't change the fundamental issues - either go with Fus at 1 and Tui/Johnson in the halves, or do what should have been done long ago and let Johnson find himself in reserve grade where his form warrants his selection.

Tevaga comes in, and is limited but has shown heart and attitude and is dropped... and here many celebrate Wright's dropping and debate whether Gavet or Gubb should be in the 17 - Wright is not the problem, and neither Gavet nor Gubb are first grade forwards

As PW said above, selecting the same lot over and over and expecting a miracle is an interesting approach - either McFadden is gutless, the players have all the power, or he's geniused...

Wow, that's such a good post I don't want to reply to it for it being pushed up in the thread but I gotta say I agree.

INTERCHANGE

14.Jarrod Wallace
15.Tevita Pangai Junior
16.Joe Ofahengaue

So that's the Broncos line up "interupted" by Origin.

Ben Ikin made a good point on NRL 360 tonight that around this part of the season we start to come right. I agree from what I recall in the past.
