I'm sure you're right.
But starting injured players in key positions is a risky manoeuvre
Did Metcalf start injured? He actually took first shot (for Ford's try) so I assumed he was fine at that stage.

If he came into the game injured then yea, absolutely agree that's a terrible decision. But I think he was fine initially.

Taine in but not IN is interesting. Smoke and mirrors and he's really still injured, or just behind BIG ED KOSI in the pecking order?

ok so
Capewell in 2nd row
Halasima to bench
Niukore seemingly ok
same for Metcalf
Berry back
Tuaupiki available but Kosi preferred
Graham Taufa not required- yay

I would prefer Metcalf to have a week off to get right and TMM replaces him and Healey at 14
Niukore did not look good and I wouldn't be surprised if he is replaced by Afoa
I would prefer Tuaupiki for Kosi but Kosi did play well one game and is bigger

So apparently Niukore’s issue was a badly broken nose last week. Never broken my nose thankfully but that sounds like a bloody painful thing to play with only a week later. I know others have done it but still…

Interesting Laban starting over Leka this week, reversal from previous weeks. Tactical or form?

Kosi did play well in Cup. Scored a couple, defended well...

Yeah Ed is on fire.

Add to that the offloads he has added to his game with that massive frame of his, too hard to put down, and he is turning into a legitimate weapon.

Fingers crossed for him, if he can bring that new confidence and new offensive game to the NRL he will be away for the rest of his career.

He is only twenty six and the biggest winger in the world so....you can see why we stuck by him with his horrendous history....because if that guy ever finds his happy place he will be unstoppable.

TMM is a proven starting NRL half. CHT is not. All my kiwi mates say the same thing I do not get it. The game last year where he Joey Johns'd the full strength Panthers was incredible.

I disagree TBH. Don’t get me wrong - at his best he’s super sharp and if he produced that consistently, he’d be a starting half for lots of clubs, not just us.

But he’s started 65-ish games in the halves across his career for 3 different clubs (plus a bunch at fb for the Broncs) and that 3-4 game stretch last year after Magic Round is the only time he’s ever performed at that level.

He's bloody capable, but he's not proven. Like so many other players in the comp he just hasn’t produced his best often enough.
