Well I guess you didn't have to be Einstien to see that coming. Smith will wanna hope it comes off or he'll have the hounds baying for him. IMO big mistake, we need Dureau for variety, and his kicking. Glad I tipped the Dragons in my tipping comp.

Exactly, the least he could've done was put Scotty there, because I have a feeling he will be wishing he had him there sometime during this game. Putting marvelous Marvin on the bench is a real kick in the guts for Dureau don't you think?

much prefer Dureau Mullen than Mullen Rodgers. Sailor will have a field day.

Its not. And obviously Coach Smith thinks we are a better team without him ( whats news? ) - at least against the Dragons this afternoon.

i'm not too worried about the halves combo at this stage. rogers has been going well the last 2 weeks and mullos impact from the bench has been extremely evident. while scotty has done nothing wrong and still provides the sharpest kicking game.. i certainly don't have a problem with him being sat out. i've come to the conclusion that we simply will not have a steady halves combo while smith is in charge of the team. while i don't agree with it... if it gets results then i'm more than happy to live with it.

aku being out is a kick in the guts though. lulia has all the pace of a VW Beetle on sand dunes.

You can't keep playing a halfback on the bench all the time. It's a waste of a bench position.

A normal bench should be a utility player and 3 forwards. Karawana is obviously considered that utility.

A dedicated halfback sitting on the bench who plays no other position ( and we can't say Dureau is a hooker because he can't tackle ), is simply a waste of time ( and bench space ).

If Dureau is gonna be in this team, it has to be in the 7 or not at all. And its pretty clear he is 3rd choice half.

Sitting him on the bench all the time works great when there is no injuries, but backfires big time if there is.

agreed.. although the 3 halves rotation has worked a treat the last couple of weeks. for one reason or another smith doesn't think this is the way to go against the dragons, and i'd say it's pretty safe to say that dureaus defence (although improved) is the reason he is left out today.

however i don't necessarily agree with all the edits you just made to the above post... i think i'll just quote what you had and agree with that so we don't end up chasing each other around that issue again.

And Marvins a better prospect there? I don't subscibe to the fact that Dureau can't tackle either. If this comes off (and I don't think it will) then Smith isn't the loose screw I'm thinking he is.

As I said, if Dureau is to be in the team, he has to be in the 7 all game or not at all.

We won't go through every game injury free, and carrying 3 halves will backfire sooner or later.

Karawana is considered our utility player to go with 3 forwards.

Dureau definitely isn't a utility.

Bulldust. Sure he's not as fast as Aku, but he's no slouch. He's safer in defence than Aku, and at least as fast as McManus
