'Kata is training the house down'

Just based on performance alone, Hurell was better than Kata on the weekend. That really can't be denied. So an explanation is needed. I am not calling for Kata to be dropped…but I can't fathom Wright for Hurrell based on Hurrell's last couple of games.

Hurrell should stay ...Cappy hasn't got the comfort of dropping him and put bean stalk in.. Lolohea needs to run with the ball not pretty boy

Kata trains well? That's like batting well in the nets...

If Hurrell's dropping is about attitude - then the customary 1 week is pointless - leave him out for 4.... just pointless from McFadden

That's the comparison I was going for.

At the end of the day, game day matters. Season is on the line. Johnson is gone. We can't afford to be splitting hairs and leaving out our most dynamic outside back.

Hurrell doesnt score enough points/make enough metres/break enough tackles/whatever metric to cover the mistakes he makes

You have lost it man. Hurrell being picked makes other teams shit themselves. They be having a good old laugh with our team sheet at the moment. Kata and Wright. I'd make a linebreak or 2 lol

If some have mentioned this could be a smoke screen for Hurrell being selected last minute then cool.

We are completely f**ked if we stick to this current lineup

Cappy you are losing some of us buddy

Not in a while at least, I'll give you that.
Nothing on the field justifies his pick over Kata though.

And Kata does???

Sorry, there's no logic to it... both have similar defensive frailties - clearly the impression is that Kata is a better kid to work with, and fine I get that - but the play Hurrell for 4-5 weeks then drop him for 1 roundabout is senseless

McFadden just doesn't seem to have a clear plan - and that's a real worry

Im lenient to Kata on the basis of his try count, his early season form, and his youth. I appreciate the fact McFadden isnt mucking with rookies. Dont get bitter, get better sort of situation

Cannot believe Hurrell was dropped.

Fufu, why do you say he's not happy about it?

No inside knowledge or anything like that, just saw his FB update a couple of hours after teams were announced, his first post in a few days and they were just a series of angry faces.

Nothing major I know and definitely nothing to harp on about was just my thought tbh

I thought that originally but he won't, McFadden has come out pretty strongly since about his deficiencies.

There's an old saying in sport about doing what the opposition least wants you to...I'm fairly whoever is marking Jono Wright wouldn't prefer Konrad. In fact I'm certain whoever it is (Aitken) did cartwheels when he saw the team sheet. Wright might be defensively sound when he's able to corner someone but if Benji can isolate him, he's got no wheels.

Lion is right, you don't win shit with guys like Wright at centre - as I said before round one. You pick them when you have no other option, and on the wing.

Kata's defence has been just as poor and he should've been the one to go, if anyone. But Cappy obviously doesn't want to send that message to someone who trains well - never mind that he's played every single game, all the Nines, the trials etc. He's probably shot physically and mentally. He'll get exposed again.

Round 21 (last week) was the first time Hurrell had played firsts since round 16. Injury and suspension might've been a part, but he played at least 1 game of NSW Cup in that time.

yes - he's usually only been dropped for one game unless injured or suspended... not sure what your point is exactly, or McFaddens

He was out of first grade for 4 weeks, back for 1, now back to reserves. That was my point. Injury and suspension may have played a part, or they may not have, we can't know for sure.

Quite probably, so I am still trying to understand the sense...

Let him be embarrassed on the field, rather than have a one on one discussion, explain clearly why he's being dropped, and drop him??:crazy:

Personally I'm a lot less worried about Wright than I am Konnie.

I think it'll be close though. Saints by 4.

Don't say that, I'd rather cop a hiding than have our season ended in a cliffhanger.

I'll be watching in a bar at Olympic Park (off to the union test, against my will). Or, if no TV coverage at the union-fest, then I'll be relying on Phil's live updates on this forum.

Can't wait either way. Bring on Saturday.

We'd know by now, Konnie would have to be on one of two planes, one to Wellington, the other Sydney.

Hope it's the former.
