Team v Newcastle

Proton Wests Tigers coach Tom Shines has named his Proton Wests Tigers side for Friday's clash with the Newcastle. Shines has made a number of changes from the side so inept and abject against soufs. The Proton Wests Tigers side is:
1. Brett Hodgson
2. Taniela Tuiaki
3. Chris Lawrence
4. Dean Collis
5. Daniel Fitzhenry (c)
6. Benji Marshall
7. John Morris
8. Keith Galloway
9. Robbie Farah (subject to doctor aiming needle correctly this week - it's novelty week)
10. Todd Payten
11. Chris Heighington
12. Liam Fulton
13. Ben T'eo
Interchange:
14. Jarrod Saffy
15. Ben Galea
16. Paul Whatuira
17. Bronson Harrison

Proton Wests Tigers coach Shines has denied the side named is akin to shuffling the deckchairs on the Titanic. "We have shifted Collis from 3 to 4 and Fitzy from 2 to 5. Heighington moves from 12 to 11 and Payten goes from 8 to 10. We've also got John Morris back in the 7 as this was also part of my long term vision"

"With regards the interchange bench we have also made a few switches that shows some form players promoted up the order".

Proton Wests Tigers coach Shines knows a win will improve his wn ratio with the Tigers to 44% and may well nudge his post 1996 record over the magical 40% barrier.

Manonthehill---Do really think Timmy Shines will experiment with such a radical side in a crunch match. Fitzy 2 to 5 big call. The extra weight of the no five might slow him down. Of course theirs the expense of going to the printers and getting them to change the team sheets printed at the start of the season.

But we know what a visionary our man Shines is so you know, expect the expected

Our supercoach is a man of immense vision and surprise. He wields the axe with plenty of venom and scares the non performers into more non performances. He may well allow a damaging winger (rather than his inept love child) to play outside Collis (at least on the proviso he keeps up with play and doesn't have his head in space dreaming of donuts when Collis puts him away).

I know Noyce and Ronald have been on the phone to Shines urging him to stick with the same side as the invoice from Offset Alpine may take us over the Tier 2 salary cap.

I have my sources and there is no truth to the rumour whatsoever that Sheens is considering playing a half at half or a 5/8 at 5/8. Half and 5/8 are the sole domains of Newcastle reject wingers

I hear the Minister of Defence is bringing in Matt Gidley for some inside knowledge on The Knights and to teach Collis the fine art of being a turnstyle.

This is the side I would pick:

1. Hodgson
2. Lawrence
3. Collis
4. D.Galea (if fit)
5. Tuiaki
6. Marshall
7. Moltzen/Lazarus
8. Payten
9. Farah
10. Gibbs
11. Heighington
12. B.Galea
13. Fulton

14. Flanagan
15. Te'o
16. Harrison/Halatau
17. Saffy

Morris will be there HT. For Sheens to drop him is for Sheens to admit `I signed a dud for 3 yrs at 230k a year to replace Prince'. There is more chance of Fitzy going past Ken Irvine on the tryscorer's list

you would put D.Galea in the team he's played Pl the whole season and has been out for 10 weeks or so. [-X

B.Galea - had heaps of enthusiasm but think he been ko'd too many times this year. Get smashed now.

I would have harrison and teo in the backrow instead of galea and fulton. and have fulton come on after 25mins for either morris/benji or one of the backrowers.

Whatuira would be in the side before Lawrence. Who cares if lawrence is dropped for the last game of the season. He lets in more tries than he scores - let him get a good offseason and play him in one position next year.
He had the whole season to improve his defense.

D.Galea would add some much needed starch to our defence on that right side, which is absolutely terrible and has been all season.

B.Galea - a poor season but one of our best on Sunday, the effort was there, he was busting his guts. Doesn't deserve to be dropped right now.

Te'o is better off the bench. Harisson, well there is another masterstroke by Sheens having him hit it up the guts with the pigs. What a waste, he is a second-rower and should be used as one.

Whatuira has been rubbish all year and even his defence hasn't been good this season. Lawrence has defensive issues but he's only 18 and knows his way to the line. Give him some good ball and he'll score tries.

Thats the key point. Give him some god dam good ball. He does not get any.

Nor does Tuiaki. The one time a game he gets good ball, he tramples over ten down the sideline and scores a try. We can do it ten times a game if we get the ball to them!

It seems that when you are not bleating or getting stuck into people for having a different point of view to your own, you can actually be a little bit clever.

Good show...

D.Galea is a myth - betcha you havent even seen him play recently, he is still on the injured list isnt he???
Why would you select a player who hasnt been in first grade all year?? do you thing he up to play with everything both physically and aswell as defensive patterns

The real team is up. Doesn't look that much better than what you suggested maninthehole.

Lawrence and Whatuira swap spots, Te'o to the bench, Galea to 11, Fulton to 13. Gibbs and Halatau back to make up the rest of the bench.

Other than that it is business as usual.

D.Galea has played first grade this year champ. Then he got injured. And yes, I've seen him play both first grade and premier league this year and I think he'd do a better job than some other players in our backline.

He is a very good defensive player, so yes, I think he could potentially bolster our defence out wide.

Why would we pick a back that can tackle, Sheens has used the old rugby thing, where backs dont tackle. Worked a treat for the past two years, just like bomb to Marshall at your own peril. The peril being you might get hurt scoring trys

You could not make it up could you.
Same underperforming dross week in week out.
And well done to Fitzy on retaining his spot
Look on the bright side ... a loss brings Sheens' exit ever nearer
Lucky Shines can still dine out on his eforts from June-Oct 05.
The food never goes bad in Shines' favourite eatery
Not like the salad bar at Sizzler hey Royce fans

Royce might get a gig at Penrith, they could do with some help in the defense department.Brickwall Royce might be the man they are looking for. The only problem I have seen better brick walls in Lebanon after a bomb has hit them
