That's an important point you make about the speed Ken gets to hi feet.I know you're talking about the hit ups in particular and I agree with you. Speed athletes are essentially power athletes and Ive seen games where Fusitua has dented the line more than Ken. The size and weight advantage should show in the getting up and playing of the ball. The thinner Fusitua, in theory, should be easier to wrestle while the bigger Ken should be more difficult for defenders to hold down. The COMPLETE hit up doesnt finish when you are tackled (as you probably already know) and its this area that I have NOT monitored with Ken and Fus lol but is one of the advantages with Ken that I think of when I look at big wingers and their hit ups.
Its not just about meters.
Manu was the prototype of this idea of using your most explosive big fast player to take hit up two.
Why is hit up two so important ?
That tackle, that ruck, is where teams control the momentum of a whole set of tackles.
To put it another way tackle two is where a D line sets its timing and structure.
Obviously that is harder to do if someone like Manu leaves a Prop and a backrower stuck at Marker, While the Warriors can cherry pick from all their forwards who takes the next hit up....Variations will see three hit ups from backs straight out of dummy half (too much of a good thing sometimes).
I suspect we have lost balance with the big backs vs big forwards.
I get why they rate kens style of hit up.
