I know you're talking about the hit ups in particular and I agree with you. Speed athletes are essentially power athletes and Ive seen games where Fusitua has dented the line more than Ken. The size and weight advantage should show in the getting up and playing of the ball. The thinner Fusitua, in theory, should be easier to wrestle while the bigger Ken should be more difficult for defenders to hold down. The COMPLETE hit up doesnt finish when you are tackled (as you probably already know) and its this area that I have NOT monitored with Ken and Fus lol but is one of the advantages with Ken that I think of when I look at big wingers and their hit ups.
That's an important point you make about the speed Ken gets to hi feet.

Its not just about meters.

Manu was the prototype of this idea of using your most explosive big fast player to take hit up two.

Why is hit up two so important ?

That tackle, that ruck, is where teams control the momentum of a whole set of tackles.

To put it another way tackle two is where a D line sets its timing and structure.

Obviously that is harder to do if someone like Manu leaves a Prop and a backrower stuck at Marker, While the Warriors can cherry pick from all their forwards who takes the next hit up....Variations will see three hit ups from backs straight out of dummy half (too much of a good thing sometimes).

I suspect we have lost balance with the big backs vs big forwards.

I get why they rate kens style of hit up.

Nice. You definitely know and played the game.

A few years back the Broncos utilised their big wingers much like you say. Wingers being Tuquiri and Sailor. For example, if Sailor got a quick PTB on the second, the dummy half which would be centres Tate, Hodges or Walker that would scoot from dummy half while Tuquiri floated with the dummy half scoot. If they deem that type 2nd tackle hit up was 'dominant' (as the reffs called back then) then Tuquiri would take another forward hit up on the 3rd in efforts to get a quick PTB. Classic example of Bennett playing to his strentghs.

With no Mannering the Panthers will be favourites, they're a razzle-dazzle side, love off-loading and ad-libbing, which El Simon helps to shut down.

It could even be a big win, 40-12, or something.

Someone tell me to calm down and just enjoy going to my local game.

who's going to cover his minutes workload and heart

No one or, at least, no one anytime soon.

The good news is we have three Warriors games on Saturday, beginning with the juniors at 10:20am. It's like a harvest-time feast for a hungry Warriors fan, like living down the road from Mt Smart. I'll be one of the first punters through the gate.

Another positive is, if we get through the next couple of games without Mannering, then our great warhorse gets a deserved break, midd'ish season.

It might be just a grade one but the thing is, those strains can hang about and comeback worse for wear.

Include Simon in your prayers boys.

Hey Blair. Calm down and just enjoy going to your local game. Though it will be a huge blow for the Warriors.

I have a lot of time for Simon, great servant, but not a game changer......

Now that Foran has gone so has your season.

That sort of stuff cruels a club.

And your juniors with no Stacey are horrible.

I still see Stacey winning the first coach to win for you blokes.

Hopefully Simon is there, he would be solid.

Stop death riding us Angry, you're full of shit. Nobody at the club will be concerned about Foran going purely because they'd all have expected it to happen. It was always a one year proposition so the idea that the club has somehow been cruelled is geniused.

Pretty sure you'll find the games in Sydney this week. 5pm kick off NZ time

Ligi Sao needs to step up here. I hope he steps up at least as he is the most likely starting replacement out of all our reserves named
