Manu on for Barbie Ken and Kata to play wing in the ISP to reinvent his game as a winger. Drop Barbie Ken and work on his speed, thats my only problem with Ken is his overall speed, poor acceleration and top speed. His blunders can be easily ironed out with first grade experience despite his current turnover average.

Ironically Fusitua, who is supposed to be a different style of winger, is significantly better than Maumalo at Maumalo's job.
I know you're talking about the hit ups in particular and I agree with you. Speed athletes are essentially power athletes and Ive seen games where Fusitua has dented the line more than Ken. The size and weight advantage should show in the getting up and playing of the ball. The thinner Fusitua, in theory, should be easier to wrestle while the bigger Ken should be more difficult for defenders to hold down. The COMPLETE hit up doesnt finish when you are tackled (as you probably already know) and its this area that I have NOT monitored with Ken and Fus lol but is one of the advantages with Ken that I think of when I look at big wingers and their hit ups.

The problem with Ken is that he has not shown any ability to beat a man with either speed, strength or elusiveness. He's shown no agility and no try scoring ability. His strike rate for a wing must be very low. I can't remember ever thinking he created something on his own.

He put on a good step against the Roosters. He nearly went right through them on that play.

In his defence (and it's a thin defence), the Warriors seem to have taken wingers completely out of their game the same way we've removed offloads. When is the last anyone even tried to set Ken away into space? The Ayshford - Fus combination was promising but we've split them up again in favor of making sure Ken doesn't lose his gig. CNK looks the goods but again spent all game tackling and saving and making hitups.

Mind you I don't think Maumalo has any try scoring ability, but he can quite rightly say he's being parked out there to gather moss. He might as well run all day making half decent hit ups until we learn to feed our backs.

Personally, I hope not - but for me he and Kata need to earn their place in the 13 now, and he has more chance than Kata IMO, unless McFadden love for Kata still holds sway

I'm actually quite done with Kata, he looked really good last season but even then he wasn't rid of his one-man show syndrome. Until proven otherwise you're quite right that Fus and Aysh have taken over.

Ken is record-settingly rubbish at scoring tries. Try finding another guy in the NRL era who went 18 games on the wing scoring only 2 tries. And that's not even the worst strike rate I could isolate to - just his first 2 seasons put together.

It certainly hasn't happened (apart from Ken) in the last few years.. not even close at Parra & Knights during their terrible team eras.

i dont buy into the Warriors reasoning with Maumalo that you need some one big to do hit ups

Sam Perret was 6ft and 90 kg and ate the metres up out of dummyhalf when returning the ball from the wing position and he could also get across the stripe regularly. In 2008 he ran 3720 metres with the ball in hand, more than any other player in the competition.
If Maumalo was fantastic in the air like a Daniel Tupou or Israel Folau, then you could make a case for him. But he is most definitely not.
If he was fast as lightning, you could make a case for him. But he is not.
If he scored tries for fun like Vatuvei, you could make a case for him. But he doesnt.
So tell me why he earnt his place in the team again?
After one viewing of CNK in NRL, i would drop Maumalo in an instant.

Kenny could make a great line running back-rower. Has no fear in running those courage lines, just needs to work on his D.

Would need to hone his craft in NSW Cup though, you don't teach someone a new position in FG

I would seriously not be surprised if his career total doesn't end up matching Manu's best season total. And THAT is why Manu is a winger and Ken isn;t.

I actually reckon prop, he runs straight and hard and the defensive workload is a bit lighter. Just bulk him up a little and work on his tackling.

The only credit I can give Maumalo for Sundays game is that he somehow managed to avoid Napa.

I think Kenny Dodgers deserves his own thread, we discuss him (probably should take out the 'cus' out of the word discuss) every week.

Manu is past his best - before on the wing.

I'm not saying Ken is the answer but he fits the mould that the coach is looking for.

Very much doubt we'll see Manu again in FG, especially with Ken improving week by week.

Sorry to burst your collective bubbles...

For everyone heading oout there
Iafeta, Blair, JaseG

Good afternoon #WarriorNation.
Round 10 vs Penrith is just around the corner and we have important INFO and a ticket discount offer!

Unfortunately there is not an “official” away supporter’s bay, and the Vodafone Warriors membership team have spoken with the Panthers about this, and the best option is for ALL Members and supporters to arrive as EARLY AS POSSIBLE and meet in Bay 20 – it's a GA section near the Warriors bench.
Members who are using there ticket entitlement will be encouraged to meet in this bay as the footy staff have been advised this is where the players are to go after the match for the supporters - YOU!
There is a special discount code for those that have already used or are saving their ticket entitlement, which is 20% of GA tickets.

Use this password: Warr17

We look forward to seeing you there - Richie and the team.

Being at Penrith Stadium will mean I get to hear Cotton Eye Joe by Rednex again. I haven't heard this great track since, uh, the last time I was at Penrith Stadium, in 2014.

Rock on! The in-house Panthers DJ has all the latest tunes.

Probably won't make it, will be working somewhat close to kick off and it's about the same as a trip to Newcastle for me...

Could change though :)

The music never made much of an impression on me... but that bloody roar did. I hate it. Mostly because of that record loss.

I'm being sarcastic about the music at Penrith, it's bloody dreadful.

Shame you can't make it, that roar was a shocker in 2014, I can only imagine what it was like in 2013, the 62-6 game.

In 2014 it did end our season though. 22-6.

I've seen a good, recent win, 2011, sitting up in the members with some Panthers rellies.

Their DJ thinks 'modern' music means the worst of '90s nightclub stuff. I'm expecting to hear 'Scatman', Swamp Thing, Mr Vain...

I can handle 'I've Got The Power' by Snap. If I must.
