No thanks. Wayne is a shit person. I don't want him near our club. He uses every club he goes to for his own devices, does things solely that suit Wayne, then has the temerity to suggest the NRL has an anti-Broncos agenda when they've served the draw up on a platter to them for years.
No need for him here, but seriously why would you say he's a shit person? Obviously there's the wife thing, but we can't judge, but obviously people will have moral views

Not like he's a serial club hopper, in the NRL it's been Canberra, Brisbane, Dragons and Newcastle - clearly Newcastle was a cluster-f**k and he was central to it, but he won premierships at two others, and made a GF with the Raiders.

He's a great coach, personally I don't see much to suggest he's a shit person - clearly being a head coach for that long, he'll have people happy to take pot shots, but plenty that revere him too

By all accounts hes an excellent person just a grumpy prick for the media

I remember after he won the world cup with us he said it was one of the best teams hes ever been with. Culture, trust and unity of the group blew him away. The next season when he was coaching the Dragons after they played the Warriors they had to kick him out of the warriors changing room cos he was having such a great time catching up with the Kiwi test players in the team. Both team busses were held up. He didnt want to leave and the warriors didnt want him to leave either

Disappointed to see initially Beale second choice behind both Hiku and Kata.

I don't mind Hiku being a stop gap at six now that we've lost Lino, RTS could certainly handle six but we'd lose so much from it. I'm generally happy with our depth, it's our up and down defence that will define this season.

Wont be for long id say. Once he gets his match fitness up he will be a starter
Didnt come here to play reserve grade

I don't know Wayne Bennett at all but I know he's an experienced and successful coach. Actually everybody knows that.

What I like to add is that - I'd hire him for an assistant coach for our team if the opportunity presented itself. I doubt it though as Wayne is a sought after coach but yeah I'd drop Cappy for Bennett. And like Stealth mentioned, he gets on with the players.

But who is our third best halfback?
Must say I think Lawton may be a good option.

I have no idea about his quality, but if Lawton is a reasonable half and has some kind of running game then yep much prefer him there than Hiku as His slow but powerful running much better suited to center...he will be mud at 6

You wouldn't need to drop Cappy, he's already leaving.

Cappy leaving concerns me...if there is no suitable replacement.
He might not have gone so well in charge, but he is an excellent assistant, projected to be one of the rising stars of the new breed of coaches, it is a real shame he got done in by having a bunch of near do wells on his payroll. \
Unlike SK, Cappy would never have gotten away with sacking all the users at the club, head coaching came all too soon for him...like SK at Para, he didnt have the power needed to succeed

Cappy did a lot to bring on many of our Junior players...guys like Fus and Kata...and had a lot of input with SJ.

I just hope the Warriors have plans to bring in someone else dynamic from the NRL proper, rather than rely on in house promotions which have never worked.

Agree on Cappy, I think the worst thing that happened to him was Elliott’s sacking, it effectively cut his apprenticeship short and resulted in him getting thrown in the deep end before he was ready. It’s a tough gig and takes time to learn, look at Kearney who only really seems to be hitting his straps this year.

What, did some of us forget? lol. We endured Cappy for 2 years with a tenure that never reached the heights that Kearney has this year.

Maybe he laid some foundations to what were seeing with our team now, I dont really know but I know his team selections were some of the most frusterating Ive seen. That includes the selection of Fusitua (debut) and then dropping him from the team when he was doing fine.

He wasnt part of Kearneys initial team either.

On the TV news. RTS may be out again as his partner hasn't delivered yet.

Hopefully since it's a home game he feels safer to play. It's not like he's stuck in Sydney if she goes into labour.

Perhaps Cappy was/is an excellent assistant, but he should have left the club the moment he was demoted.

As long as we replace McFadden with someone decent I will be happy with that, the problem at the Warriors is that Coaches leave and their good ideas get thrown out with the bathwater.

Fortunately McFadden stuck with Elliots changes to the Warriors - around having their best Juniors play in the ISP instead of focusing on winning Junior NRL trophies....that move more than anything has improved the Warriors long term outlook.

Elliot made several other systems changes I won't bore people with all of them but you might as well say that the Warriors being able to play consistent structured NRL footy was all Mathew Elliot.

Today we take those sweeping plays of the right edge for granted...where block runners hit holes and SJ passes the ball out the back to the full back then Center and the wing goes over in the corner.

Prior to that Ivan Cleary had managed to teach this lot some second man plays and kicking a ball to a Giant Winger, and not a lot else.

When Elliot brought that move in and some others, we quickly forgot how the Warriors used to look. Jungle ball, second man plays, the occasional set play off a scrum.

That stuff could all have been lost had not Cappy stayed firm in those structures, we still use them today.

Cappy stayed on because JD asked him to help SK work out all the rubbish with the players and make SK's job easier.

I would have liked to have seen Harris in the halves....that position is so important to a side,

Good Luck Hiku....he was horrible at it for the Kiwis.

There’s no way around it- losing Lino is disruptive. RTS moving from fullback or Harris coming in from the edge would have been more disruptive. I don’t know how Hiku will go, but this is probably the least disruptive option.
