I like it too but not 100% sure if that will work as well as it did last year...I don't think Kurt will be quite up to his best (which is heavily based on him being 'Kurt fit' rather than just 'match fit') for the first 5-6 weeks of the comp given his off season.

I'd expect a mix of Dureau/Gidley/Ndaira/Hilder running the show with of course De Gois doing his thing and also Hilder helping out with dummy half duties as well. Certainly Dureau/Gidley/Ndaira doing most of the stuff in the halves.

I'd put Hilder at 5/8. It's a position he's played before and is more reliable than Karawana

if Ndaira is on the bench, might be the way to go to start - and bring Timmy or Wicks on to the bench.

could always play Houso at 6 and Kurt at 1.6...

or could play Kurt at 6 and give Mata'utia a run.

we have options - just none of them come close to 6. Mullen.....

I like those two options best. The seven forwards and Gids in the halves in offence is what we played against the Bunnies last year and it worked a treat. I have a sneaking suspicion, however, that Gids really wants to bed down at fullback this year. A couple of comments that both he and Smith made in the off-season suggested this was one of the main reasons we purchased depth in the halves and at dummy-half.

Personally, though, I think Dureau is the kind of half who needs a 5/8th with flair. Karawana has been solid but drab in his first grade appearances to date; and much as I love Hilder's non-stop terrier style at lock or dummy-half, he was decidedly ordinary in his stint at 5/8th for the Titans.

On second thoughts, Hilder could play 80 min's as a "five-eighth/seventh forward" and Gids could do his Rover thing, but with more emphasis than usual on getting into play-maker second-receiver situations.

lol... on his off-days maybe. Unfortunately our best chance is that he plays and switches on. His A-game is miles ahead of Ndaira or Karawana.
I'd have Ndaira over Rogers anyday in any position, 5/8th, halfback, hooker, lock, ball boy, anything...

Pato's also in some doubt too. Definitely possibly down to the bare bones :(

I'm not prepared to write off Ben Rogers as a quality footballer who can add to our team this year.

He has shown many times in first grade ( mostly with the Rabbitohs ) that he has the ability to not only play first grade, but dominate games around his playmaking alone.

As someone has already mentioned in here, if you take a look at his 2007 form with the Rabbitohs, he was a standout. And that was playing in the 6 outside that useless makeshift NZ halfback ( was it Smith? - his name slips my mind he was that irrelevant ).

Its clearly a mental issue with Rogers. A mental problem or motivation.

One of the two.

Whatever it is, if he could rectify his mind, he could be anything.

He has led his team to NRL semi finals after all at the Rabbitohs, which is alot more than what any of our other playmakers have ever achieved at NRL level.

Don't forget last year as well Karma with the Dragons, he came in mid season I think and had a few great games when their regular halves were missing.

He is a bit like Wicks where he has all the talent just having issues getting it out consistently.

But in the past there was complaints about his training attitude, I believe he has fixed all that up with us.

People are too quick to write him off after round 1.

And still I don't expect him to go out and pump the Rabbitohs, will take a month of him playing to get to see the good stuff.

Might as well have saved time and gone to the chemist and taken a bottle of laxatives

Rogers has not had a standout game
He's to erratic in form
For every good play he puts on your assured he will fug up the next 3.
Good luck with him if he turns it around he will be handy, but no superstar

No one here thinks the bloke is a superstar thats for sure.

But is he up to first grade standard? At his best with his head in the right spot, he can be a matchwinner.

Ironically, alot like Supersub Dureau.

I'd love a $1 for every time I've heard Phil Gould wrap Ben Rogers big time during a TV telecast. " There's points in Rogers, he can change the game "... Blah Blah.

Some might say there's points in Rogers alright - for the opposition

rogers is like rolling a dice and praying for a 6... you will get it occasionally, but more often then not there will be disappointment

Rumour has it that if it's hot Rogers and MacDougall might be "rested" tomorrow, so maybe we are still a chance
