give it a rest dino FFS!i told you guys WE CANNOT ATTACK. our attack near the line is bordering on pathetic no beating of the opposition players except for one occasion AND YET AGAIN WE HAVE NOT SCORED MORE THAN 10 POINTS.
GET RID OF BLOODY MARY
And you are a malaka of the highest order
Our backline play is just not slick when you compare it to the good sides like Souths. Everything is done at speed with decoys running the right lines and passes all hitting the mark. It's been a problem for us fur a number of years to be honest , but defence is keeping us in games this year.
Every now and then we manage to execute, like Nightys try, but this is more an exception than the rule. We need to be more consistent running out good plays if we're gonna give the comp a shake this year.
Widdops try was scored from 60 meters out. I didn't see any long distance Souths tries tonight.
Understand what you're trying to say, but we are not that bad. Widdops form though is a bit of a concern, at times he looks like he is somewhere else tbh.
accurate overall summary...we are a very good football team now...some individual errors let us down (Widdup 2-3 errors)..overall a happy dragonI was at the game. My thoughts:
- we dominated them in attack and defence in the first half. Souths were on the ropes. I was sitting with a bunch of Souths supporters, they were worried every time Dugan, Marshall and friz touched the ball
- we should of scored at least 1 more try in the first half
- taking that penalty early in the first half was a negative play. We had their measure and should of gone for the try
- the refs awarded them some dubious penalties gifting them easy meters at crucial times when we were in control of the game early in the second half
- as others have mentioned, when we were chasing the scoreboard, we were not given the rub of the green with some crucial calls (Dugan/Keary)
- in the last 15 minutes, our kicking game was poor
- widdop doesn't look like he is playing with confidence
- we didn't lose the game in the second half, rather the first. We didn't take full advantage of our dominance
- this is the second game in a row where the refs have made some crucial calls against us. Mary needs to start complaining about this at press conferences ala hasler/Bennett do. I don't care what anybody thinks, but I believe, especially leading into big games, it makes a difference. Yes I know you can't critise refs anymore, but I'm sure there is a way Mary can word it to let the reporters run with it. Or have someone else complain about it after the post match pressa.
Overall, I'm happy with where we are at. Souths had to play their best football all year in the second half to beat us. We have more improvement in us than them.
Not sure why there is any negativity.
Dragons had more line breaks, a stack more metres, missed less tackles, made more tackles, had more offloads.
Only two stats they didn't win were 50/50 calls their way and the penalty count.
And they only lost by 6, against the "benchmark"...
Keeping my chin up. Souffs played their best game since Burgess left and we got done by 6 after missing at least 3 try scoring opportunities in the first half. We did a great job containing their big gun players (Luke, Inglis, Walker) but we were undone by some great attacking formation and Adam Reynolds killer boot.
We definitely need more polish on our finishes and in the opposition 20. Timing on attack is still iffy, and it looks like our halves always run out of room. I think Rein needs to look to take some charge - both our halves are ball runners, so we need someone in the middle directing the play, and that could be Rein.
Our set plays need to tighten up also - all 3 of Souffs tries were from perfectly executed set plays that had the exact desired effect on the defense. Should be watching something like that and coming up with something similar, we rely too much on Benji/Widdop creating something when they should, at times, be following an attacking set thats designed to create opportunity for them.
Big test for Mary next week, really need to stick it to Canberra or we will start to hear noises of us not being the real deal, and that is a slippery slope...
