It was always going to be tough with Melb coming off a flogging last week. Not to mention no early consistency from refs in relation (blatant double-standards awarding a scrum to Melb twice), and Melb being all over us in play the balls, elbows to the face etc, and nothing being done.
However, we ovbiously contributed this to with error upon error and stupid penalties, and some bad defense. The boys are paid good money to pay 80 mins a week, and represent the Panthers jersey, thus it is frustrating with the other team shows up with more energy than us, and we lack the attention to detail with sloppy play.
We didn't have the energy to compete last night, and looked for the easy option (spreading it wide, and then dropped ball or bad kicks from Whare). We need to concentrate on winning up the middle, which would then give the backs confidence and would put us in a position to spread the ball and make some good kicks, as the defense would be on the back foot).
It is a positive we only gave away 2 points in the 2nd half.
I would love to see Wallace change his behaviour a bit, yes, do question the refs, but don't let it deflate his body language. Move on from it, and rev the side up and lead by exmple and keep your chin up.
I would also love to see Cartwright start, we could use his energy from the beginning.
