Does make me wonder though, what exactly has Sao done to get in Kearney's bad books. It can't just be form because he's played well all year. Both starting the season in first grade for the winning run, and then in ISP.

didn't someone mention some discipline issues (late to training sessions or such like)?

So it appears Kearney is smarter than we give him credit for and Hiku was in fact dropped for his shocker against Penrith- it was just done discreetly last week as Hiku was needed as a fill-in winger anyway.
Yeah I admire this move by kearney, other coaches would have stuck by Hiku after he bounced back well against the Broncos.

Sends a good message.

The Warriors are really getting somewhere with their standards under Kearney.

I'd be interested to know if it was short term, or if it has been an ongoing thing. If it was just at the start of the season, then at some point, as the head coach, you have to move on from it and make it work with the player. I know Kearney is a stubborn prick, but it could be his undoing one day if he's not careful. From the outside, he's done a great job to improve the culture (there's that word) of the club, moving on the less professional element of the playing group. If it has been an ongoing issue with Sao, then good on him for sticking by his standards. I back him all the way. I'd hate to think it's an issue where he just won't let it go though.

Great side, I don't really feel sorry for Hiku who got plenty of chances and is clearly rocks and diamonds.
Kata has an endless list of chances after terrible performances by a number of coaches without ever getting deservedly dropped - not that I feel sorry for Hiku, but there's always double standards in NZ league.

Agree 100%

And at the same time the likes of CNK and Ayshford don't get anything.

In hindsight I suspect if Ken had been available he’dve been dropped from the 13 last week but he got a “soft drop” because of that.

Pulu should have been named on the bench.

Really hope Bunty comes in for Hiku but if not, at least hiku can cover 1-7 on the bench.

Pulu will probably get two weeks in ISP in the same fashion they made sure Paasi was match fit.

Pulus role seems to be getting comfortably covered by Mannering and Papalii.

Still it is exciting Pulu is next level.

Afoa not named in the ISP side, so every chance he could make the game day team. Pulu playing ISP second row in an indication that's where he'll come back into the top side. Just missing Harris now. Time to get some momentum going.

I thought Afoa was out injured for at least a few more weeks??

What they thought was a dislocation of the elbow must have been a hyper-extension (2-4 weeks sometimes 6 if it is extreme).

Fortunately he has had a season to build Cardio and only been out a short stint.

Pulu on the other hand has been out most of the season hey....and hes broken and torn bits....it's amazing that he is coming back right to the day of his recovery estimate.

Tohu had that minor op. Not having Pita Hiku next to him when he returns would go some way to protecting their expensive asset I would have thought.

I hope Pita improves his tackling...although even if he does...he will be targeted mercilessly by opposition coaches for a long time.

Yeah. It's not like we could afford for Sao to go elsewhere.

See I can answer my own question. Named for the Reserves this week. Now that makes me happy. If we have the choice of Harris, Afoa, Lulu in a week or two, that will make some interesting selection headaches for Kearney
What happens with Jazz is the only question mark.

kearney has an full deck of guaranteed to play leaving only one spot on that bench to decide over.

Using numbers loosely to line up the certainties:

8: Gavet
9: Luke
10 Paasi
11: Mannering
12: Harris
13: Blair

14:
15: Aoa
16: Pulu
17: Papalii

Really that only leaves one spot to work out. I am betting he goes with Jazz rather than Satae or Sao.

He has lost his spot this week as the incumbent ?

Not far enough you recon ?

should of been in ISP regardless of Kens injury in my opinion. Send the message that what he dished us was unacceptable. Giving up on a chase and leaving it to RTS was TRASH
