Katoa is very athletic but to me he's trying too much to be a show pony, but comes off looking like a panic merchant. He should settle down and just play the game.

Yep. Last week in the first half, he found some space down our end and should have just pinned his ears back and he most likely would have split I think it was
Ryan James and one of their other forwards who was struggling to fill the gap, and instead he stepped back on the inside. Needs to just hold the ball, catch the ball and run. Stop with all the dancing moves.

I reckon you have hit the nail square on the head there Tom!

Katoa does look very fast over the first 10 or 20, enough to get him through the defence. Once he is through though its like a parachute deploys out the back of him.

Who would you replace katoa with fiz?

I don't get the katoa hate. He can finish a try off and he's only very young.

Mate, I don’t hate him at all, it’s more a sense of frustration and not doing the little things right such as ball security and throwing poor passes when the ball should be held.

If our forwards were more dominant, it probably wouldn’t be such an issue, but at the moment we aren’t dominating which means we need to make the very most of our opportunities without taking high risks.

I’m not really a believer in “X factor” footballers - give me a backline that tackles hard, runs their lines, creates overlaps, passes at the right moment any day.

So on that basis, I would bring in Xerri who is less “X factor” and more structured. Duges has played some good football on the Wing, so I would be happy with that.

I would like to see Katoa work on some basics of his game before coming back into first grade.

It seemed like he was aware that he wasn't going to get all the way and was looking for an inside runner to pass to, and lost us momentum with the dancing moves. Just getting as a far forward as he could would have kept up the momentum and kept us getting nearer the try line. I guess he's got a bit of learning to do.

In that situation just pin the ears back and make sure if you get tackled its not over the sideline

I would also make this change. A bit hard on Duges, but Katoa was junk on the weekend. Lucky it was against the Titans and they couldn't capitalise. Katoa is yet to show me anything more than brain farts.
