I like wright for his heart, but f**k he is slow. Like prop forward slow. If Ike was on the wing last night, we just might have made something of the final play. We need to stop persisting with him. He's flat out f**ked

Agree. He doesn't shirk the hard stuff and does well in contact but is absolutely no threat in the clear.

His turn and chase is very slow as well.

Most are giving it to Wright, though I maintain his work with Besty has been solid and was getting better before his injury.
IMO Flanno made a wrong decision by changing the team around before Broncos ( public and media pressure?) and then compounded that mistake this week, with the dropping of Gardner and the move of Wright back to the wing, outside a centre with whom he has had no rapport. Leteule went ok and is the future - though for wins, if Best is fit, should be given the chance to redeem himself of his Broncos game, against Idris, with Wright his winger and the rest of the team replicating the team that was winning 4weeks ago!

No Gal will be interesting.
Punt Chad back to 20's where we have a chance of the NYC premiership.
Bring Porter for next week.
Put Kelly and Smith as the halves in the Reggies. Make Kelly play the 80 in an effort for him to play against the roosters or at least the cowboys annihilation.
Have Smith/Porter as the halves for the Reggies so we can storm that in.
Bring Gards back.
Drop Tautai.

We need to do a job of protecting encouraging our final prospects for out juniors and reserve grade while also preparing for 2012.

Of course none of this will happen due to supercoach.

Agree with nearly all that except on Leutele. He was fugged in defence.

Like I said in running last night I'm not a great Wright fan. Yes he's slow on the turn and not winger fast etc but I also agree with blokes like cheese and weapon who recognise his heart

However, to criticise his defence from last night is scapegoating. If a wingers centre doesn't move up fast, in fact if the rest of line doesn't move up fast when playing Flanno's compressed rubbish defensive line then the poor winger gets left stuck between a rock and a hard place. Can't rush up, he'll leave a gap behind his centre. Can't stay out as he'll leave a gap the size of Sydney heads between himself and the centre. Mead's second try was because of an overcompressed slow moving defence not because Wright wasn't chained to the fence. If he stays out to cover Mead and the kick then Prince simply chooses to pass top a gap runner who scores anyway.

Wright, agreed, not the best winger for the NRL but not the reason tries get scored on his outside all the time. There are times it will be his fault for sure but he's not the worst. In fact before last nights game everyone wanted to bag the right side defence more.

There's worse symptoms inside him. Players don't defend in a fast moving line anymore. The defence Flanno has going is a far cry from the defence that kept a piss poor attacking unit in games when Sticky was in charge. This Flanno style defence can only win games if the team is capable of scoring 30 points a match. This team can't

Why does Zac Gordon deserve to be dropped? He was the best back on the field for The Sharks and probably the second best Shark overall behind Gallen.

He ran for 235 metres. That's as good as Gardener gets and he didn't look that much less dangerous and his positional play was superior to Gardener's.

I'd probably go left field because it doesn't matter now.

8: Mannah
9: Morris
10: Cordoba
11: Smith
12: Gallen (B Wright)
13: Graham
7: Gards
6: Townsend
5: Stapleton
4: Pomeroy
3: Best
2: M Wright
1: Gordon

14: Frizzell
15: B Wright
16: Snowden
17: Douglas

16 & 17 have their heads in 2012 and don't deserve to be starting. Mannah might be the same but he doesn't seem to be as up himself as the other 2 loyalty quoting runaways

Frenzy my beef with wright is in attack not so much defense. Most wingers aren't the best defenders but they have to be a threat in attack. Even Stapleton as average as he is still has a good leap and the pace to finish a break (if we ever made them)

Fair enough and I won't argue that. In fact Wright is a small backrower in wingers clothes when it comes to attack IMO

As to my thoughts on defence, they can be applied to any winger not just Wright. If they aren't given a fighting chance then they have no hope. They should all watch the veteran Anthony Quinn and how he is able to come in and kill off centres because of the speed of the rest of the Storm line. Quinn can get that achieved because he's already up there on the end of a fast moving line. Any poor Sharks winger is a sitting duck due to the slow line, half slide, overcompressed rubbish Flanno has them playing

Isn't Best out til 24?

Either way if Best and Pom are our centres next year, I predict a similar year.

I like Gards at the back. I can see him learning to put blokes away as well as just carving.

I do like Ike there too, but in this team prefer him outside Wright.

I can't see Wright having a long term future @wing. He either makes it as a centre or fades away. He will however require require a very quick bloke outside. I nominate Ike.

Leutele, first game, would persist, Collis seems out of favour. Stapo improves might be worth a go at centre.
Gallen needs to lead the left.

I would go

Ike-Wright-Kelly-Gallen-Cordoba/Douglas-Graham/Frizzel-Morris-Mannah/Snowden-Smith/Topou-Townsend-Leutele-Stapo

Gards

With a Degois starting and sharing with Morris.

Fifta and Gibbs for Dougy and Snowy.

The right looks weak but, hey I have had seasons of the others I can go 4 weeks.

Perhaps Pom where toops is and Toops where Frizzel is.

Just IMO.

Next season will hopefully be sorted, as to who are our first choice options in the centres, by our pre season training and trials - though currently Best and Pom are the ones who should be 1st choice in our current team lineup
