Cronulla front-rower Thomas Hazelton is in serious doubt for Saturday’s do-or-die clash against the Roosters, after being admitted to hospital with a serious infection.

Sources close to the situation say Hazelton was taken to hospital on Monday night where he was suffering from a leg infection.

As of Tuesday 7pm he was still at Karena Hospital in the Sutherland Shire.

Hazelton was named to come off the bench against the Roosters on Tuesday afternoon, but if unfit to play come Saturday, the Sharks have not named an outright prop on their extended bench.

Briton Nikora was named in jersey 21 and could return for his first game since round 23.

I hear you but, given the original squad, I don't see we had much choice.

Atko can cover injuries, otherwise he can spend the match on the bench exacerbating his hip issues.
