I don't do these teams too often but I feel the motivation to do one this week:

1 Gids
2 Vuna
3 Mad Dog
4 Sau (maybe last chance - but who else do we have to play centre?)
5 Uate (last chance)
6 Mullo/Rogers
7 Dureau/Mullo
8 Taufua
9 De Gois
10 Simpson (assuming he played prop all night last night - he had great stats!)
11 Pato (not so sure about this...have we got any other backrowers to choose from though?)
12 Taia
13 Hilder

14 Karawana
15 Fa'aoso
16 Wicks
17 Lulia?

The other option would be to put Simmo back in the 2nd row and have Wicks or Faas to start with Natusch and Pato on the bench with one of Karawana/Wes/etc filling the last spot.

Not too sure on the bench players either - that being the usual suspects in Karawana and Wes, and I have Lulia there as a maybe for 17th player.

Making this team highlighted for me how many players we are missing at the moment - another contributor to our recent form I think.

I dont want karawana near first grade again until next season.

I can understand you saying that - but who else do we pick? I don't think Smithy will pick Natusch with Wicks and Faas on the bench already too - given he has avoided picking him for most of the season I can't see him doing differently now.

I don't give a sh*t who plays but if our defenders can't hit harder in defence and then mark up more quickly that they have in the past two weeks they'll get thrashed again and again and again. Of course having Gidley at fullback is a no brainer as he can't kick a football to save himself and his ball skills are ordinary. I still cannot believe anyone in the NSW camp was seriously considering ever playing him in the halves. I'm sure that was a beat up. Smith must have been desperate to start him there last night. Also, we are not doing much with the ball, especially out of dummy half. I know De Gois is a good little defender but I would love to see some quick play the ball, some running from dummy half and some ball movement wide of the ruck - similar to the stuff we were doing earlier this season. Isaac needs to move with the ball in hand. not just give service by throwing the pass. It would also be great to see De Gois kick from dummy half as well and take pressure of the halves from time to time.

After watching the Eels demolish Cronulla today I think we can expect a thrashing next week.

Eels 58
Knights 4

It's gonna be ugly.

In fact, they are the team who started the downfall of our season.

If our team cant lift for this one to get them back, then there is no chance of finals this year.

If things continue as they are though, yeh it's gonna be ugly. Eels 42-10.

The boys need to go into camp this week and re group. They can do it but need to get combinations right and mind set on the job. I am sure the run of bad play is about to pass.

Still have your crush on Scotty then ;-)

I don't think it's going to matter who we throw out on the field next week - based on the attitude of the last 2 weeks we will get belted.

Not time to get experimental at all... We should be picking the team that was getting the results for us earlier in the year.

Just need to tell them to pull their fingers out.

At the game last night I was thinking the same thing. He is becoming too one dimensional.

Now that's imaginative! Has an exciting look about it, but you're just just having a bit of fun. Right? :) :sarcasm:

With a lot of work Gids might be capable of playing an 80-minute role at hooker. I wouldn't put anything past him. But anyone who thinks he can just slot into that job overnight should review round 17 last year against Saints. He played the full game at hooker (not the dual role he played later). Plenty of spark out of dummy-half, but it caused massive problems in defence. Gids worked his arse off of course and made 30-odd tackles, but he also missed half-a-dozen and was caught out at the ruck on several other occasions which led to breaks and tries and there seemed to be a general lack of cohesiveness in the team's central defence.

I agree Jono...or at least the best team we can pick given the players we have missing (particularly in the forwards at the moment).

Pick the best team we have available. No point getting experimental because we can still save the season. In saying that, that'd mean the team (and coach for that matter) would have to give a toss ...
