So empty with no game this weekend just gone, especially as the previous 3 weeks have been so epic

The more I think about it, the more I think we'll need a backup hooker/ dummy half and that we should be selecting Havili on the bench. I also wouldn't be surprised if Tomkins was named at 6, with Lolohea remaining as fullback and Peyroux in the centres.

Townsend is our handbrake and with him going next year, he might as well start packing now.

Tomkins has only played twice this year and we've won them both. He distributes well and runs well, so let him act as the foil Shaun's been looking for. Not so sure on Peyroux though. Oh for a fit Hurrell !!

Tomkins
Wright
Lolohea
Kata
Vatuvei
Townsend
Johnson
Rapira
Friend
Matulino
Lousi
Thompson
Mannering

Havili/Roache (if Roache has impressed in 20s give him a - short - run, otherwise Havili)
Vete
Lisone
Peyroux

Rest Lillyman & (particularly) Hoffman. We're short on experience in props after letting Matagi go, I wouldn't want Lillyman to get burn out this early when we have Rapira sitting in NSW cup... if Rapira/Matulino go down later in the season we'll need a well-conditioned Bull.

Hoffman is obvious IMO- he should probably be rested from Origin, but we can't make that happen so at the very least stop him backing up. Also similar rationale to Bull- it's just best practice to try and have him as close to 100% come the end of the season as possible. Lousi performed well enough to be given a starting spot, and Peyroux moves to the bench to cover the edges (and give Lousi a spell).

Roache will likely be an option in years to come but he's only 18 or 19 and pretty sure a standoff/ centre by trade. He's a work in progress as a hooker IMO. I've seen a couple of the U20 games and he's pretty much a pass only from dummy half option. Unsure on his size and strength to defend at hooker at top grade level either.

What Friend doesn't bring to the table is a decent running game. He doesn't keep the markers honest as Luke will do next year. When playing well Havili has this in his game, but unsure where his games at currently.

Tomkins and Vatuvei back. Big boost.

Give me;

1- Tomkins
2- Wright
3- Lolohea
4- Kata
5- Vatuvei
6- Townsend
7- Johnson
8- Lillyman
9- Friend
10- Matulino
11- Thompson
12- Hoffman
13- Mannering

Bench- Peyroux, Vete, Lisone, Lousi

Extended bench- Rapira, Ikahihifo

This is a good team (bar the worst hooker in the comp). Could have Hurrell take Peyroux's place on the bench.

Agree with resting Hoff and Bull. Lousi and Rapira are more than capable cover and Newcastle don't have a top shelf pack, we need to play the long game here.
Lolohea to the bench in a Hohaia type impact role would be my other suggestion- covers fullback if Tomkins goes down, and can potentially be subbed on at either 6 or 9 to ease him into some playmaking duties.

Noticed that fish and lousi are not named for reserves. Both injured?

And interesting that Sipley gets promoted from the juniors also

It's the ultimate Warriors cliché of the past 3 seasons, but that team on paper is capable of serious damage.

This 2015 season is capable of winning the whole thing still in my books. But shit scared of this so called easy game for the us. 20 years we all know the Warriors by now so they better be up for this and not take a never give up Knights team lightly. May need to do a cheeky Knights 12 and under to keep the stress levels leveled
