Team vs Souths

Just quietly, Gutherson has been looking amazing in the centres of late.
His passing is sublime, and looks really dangerous with ball in hand. We look far more dangerous with him at centre and French on the wing as compared to Taka and Gutho.

For mine, Taka to fill in at right half for the rest of the season (when he's back), and have Gutherson and French paired as the combo - could be the combo for next season too?

Unless Hayne is coming back I'd expect either Gutherson or French to play fullback for us next year.

Then where do you put Taka next season?

Personally, next season I see French at 1, and Taka and Gutho back to their respective spots.

But then, I'm not good a predicting this kind of stuff.

This is where we went wrong with Jennings.

Semi and Taka
Gutho and French

That would save $600k-700k in the next 3 years.

I would try Gutha at 6 because his passing games seems better than Gutha. He's not a noted runner like Taka is and we miss out on Taka's hitups and runs then offload to a winger. Finally, I would say he has a bit more of a footy brain than either Taka or KE.

for mine

Move Semi with Taka.
Move French with Jennings
Gutha to 6

I would say that BA will go Gutha at 1 just for his safety factor unless Hayne comes back

He plays park footy in Newcastle.

Very odd cos Brad Murray was signed by us as a gun No.7 from the NYC Roosters with Thurston like stats with try assists etc. Sounds like he was un/officially told never to come back by the NRL.

Cheers. Would be a shame if that were the case.

The Guth Bus has looked at his best when he hasn't been on the wing, he was great at fullback when needed and has been excellent in the centres. His quick thinking pass to French turned the game.

If we don't snag Hayne I'd like to see him at the back unless French kills it in the off season, but he's wasted on the wing IMO.

With French's lack of size he offers very little from the wing, and actually presents a defensive liability. Much of his attacking strength (playmaking and support play) is also wasted on the wing. I would be astounded if French played wing next year. I'd say the only reason he is playing wing right now is to give him some NRL experience. By the end of the season he will surely be spending time at fullback.

I think the reason French is on the wing is because of two reasons, I agree about the getting him some NRL exposure, but also, he's not in fullback because Gordon is there, and moving him to the wing would be useless.

I suspect if Gordon was to bugger off to the Roosters as has been reported, we'd be seeing French at the back.

I think Gordon would be a better winger than French. However at this stage he is a much safer option at fullback.

I think irrespective of Frenchs lack of size his defence quiet good. He has a great first contact and is a good read of defence from the wing. Also his speed is in the genuine speedster class.
I think French would do well next year as a winger, I think his a better winger then Gutho. Gutho is definitely a centre or fullback ☺️☺️
