If Tui wants to stay and FB he needs to push up in support. I dont know if it is fitness or game awareness but three times Marsters broke thru and was begging for someone to pass to on the inside and was all by himself. Marsters has a natural right foot step which means he needs to be supported on the inside. Whoever is FB needs to be in Marsters back pocket on the inside every time he gets the ball.

This is where points will come from for us (In the earlier rounds anyway). Not thru fancy ball playing or constructed play but by being there and converting chances.

Dont want to be too critical of Tui, he tried hard and absolutely nailed that pressure kick from the sideline (After missing a sitter) I am pretty sure this will be addressed during the week.

Still chuffed with the effort. I dont reckon these guys know how much joy they give us with a good effort and an occasional whole hearted win.
Yep what joy in what was such an un-west’s tigers dogged win against a team that dominated us for so long & to keep them scoreless in 1st half is unprecedented.

Under IC ‘s stewardship gone is the profound frustration of leaking soft tries b4 & after half time.Geez that used to piss me of to no end.Theres no doubt we were just never fit enough nor resilient enough to defend robustly for 80 mins.

I just hope we continue to play with the same attitude. I don't think it was fitness that was the issue. I reckon it's the mental attitude.

As good as roosters backbone was Mitch Cornish was the worst half on the park the other day. Everytime 10m out he keyed dumming instead of feeding tedasco Mitchell and Tupou the ball I thought if Reynolds was playing our halves evened out with Cronk>Brooks but Reynolds>cornish. So if we won the forward battle we could win.

Also Alex Twal topped the metres gained and he came off the bench Eisenhuth was second. So we won the forward battle and Benji outplayed both Cronk and Cornish.

We need this to happen this week. Benji is capable of outplaying Croft at least. Then we need to win forward battle again.

Twal was huge wasn't he. No trials at all and he killed them. If Benji plays like that he should be the first half picked each week.

Yeah Aloiai is probably the only change I’d make. Preferably for Mcillwrick
I thought he was more dominate than Godinet. I also believe you need a specialist hooker in the 17.
But again, does anyone deserve to be dropped at this point?

No doubt IC has assembled the necessary grunt to b competitive against any team.

Our best halves combo without any doubt is Benji @ 7 & Reynolds @ 6.Additionally with a back 3 of Thompson Nofa & Fonua we can b a genuine top 8 contender.

If Lolohea is out & I don't think he will be (he did win our last game, kicking that goal), who becomes the goal kicker?
I think Marsters can kick (not sure how well), Benji could kick (not sure these days), is there anyone else?

Marsters is our 2nd choice kicker I’m pretty sure

When Lolahea missed the one from in front 30m out I was worried we were going to lose by 2 but he made up for it. He got the sideline conversion but I feel that was a one off great kick but if we score say 4 tries out wide I feel like we would convert 1-2 of them.

We’ve certainly got an issue with goal kicking.I don’t mean to b getting ahead of myself after 1 win but it won’t surprise if we lose a few games due to poor goal kicking & consequently it costs us a finals spot.To make things potentially worse is the fact that our no.1 goalkicker isn’t a certainty to remain in the NRL side.

Geez IC’s son would make a profound difference re our ability to make finals & b a contender. Not only is the kid a brilliant half but he just about guarantees 4 turns into 6 with his sublime goal kicking.

I hope IC’s persuasion skills re his prodigious sons next contract r as impressive as his temperament & humility. In IC we trust.

If we got NC and maybe a gun outside back we'd be a top team. I think our outside backs can do the job though. I even think Benji in the halves this year may help out a lot.

Even when Reynolds is back I would love to have Benji on the field for the whole game can he just play lock so we gave an extra playmaker and kicker out there. Let him control the team and Brooks and Reynolds can just play. Be more in defence having 3 halves in the line.

Imagine Benji Reynolds Marsters with thompson/nofo linking up together.

We all heard how this is Brooks team etc but from what I saw out there benji was the one calling the shots and directing the team around the park.

If Brooks ever wants to become the dominant playmaker/organiser he says he wants to, he needs to come out of his shell.

Benji will be better for our mob coming of the bench or playing selected games. Last week raw emotions got him through, but I am not sure he has 80 minutes of NRL in him every week from now till September.

Injuries alone will ensure he plays a fair few games. I would like to see IC try and get Gamble into the mix in about a months time just to see if he can cut it at a level higher. Anyway while Reynolds is out we certainly need Benji

Benji is clearly our most effective game manager/playmaker.Brooks never has been & never will b a playmaker. If we r to have any chance of making the 8 Benji & Reynolds r our best halves combo.

Ideally I’d luv to trade Brooks with another club for a decent left centre.

Sadly Brooks is the only guy in the team who has the speed in attack and defence to change a game. Yes his game management skills are not great, but last week there were signs that things have improved from last year
