I reckon that is our best team.

Lawrence will be underdone but last time he came back he was still one of our best. Tuqiri is out of form. Apart from those two though that team looks real good.

Go Tigers.

Last time Lawrence came back he was gunshy, dropped four balls and missed a bunch of tackles... Hope he's better this time.

You guys will win this easy but then you will run in to a very big wall called melbourne storm and I don't really know if anyone can beat them. I guess if you can grind out like manly did other week you might have a chance.

BRING ON 'THE BEAST' SAYS BEAU RYAN
By Wayne Cousins
13/09/2011 3:15:57 PM
The nick-name of Warriors winger Manu Vatuvei is enough to scare any player, yet alone his physical presence, but Beau Ryan loves nothing more than taking on ‘The Beast’.
Ryan is a self confessed fan of ‘The Beast’, the aptly titled nick-name belonging to Vatuvei , regarded as the most powerful winger in the NRL.
The pair go head to head when Wests Tigers clash with the Warriors in this Friday night’s semi-final at the Sydney Football Stadium.
“I love playing the Beast. It brings out the best in me,’’ Ryan declared.
“When we played in Auckland (in round 14), he was at his best and scored a couple of tries. I was lucky to get one at the end of the game.
“You want to play guys like Manu and (Newcastle’s) Akuila Uate. It is going to be a big, big test for me.
“What’s not scary about Manu? He is a big, strong aggressive guy and that’s what you play footy for. To test yourself against these guys. Like they say, the bigger they are, the harder they fall.

“Hopefully I can get over him, or under him, to do anything to try and stop him. He is a fantastic player and a great character in the game.
“I’ve played against him a few times and we have both shared the points. He usually gets a try against me or I try and get one against him. I will definitely have some bruises on Saturday.”
Ryan said the Warriors were just outclassed by a ‘great Brisbane side’ in their qualifying final at Suncorp Stadium and was extremely wary of the bounce back factor.
“After a poor game, the Warriors will come back. It is going to be good for us. I’m confident it will be a big game in front of a big crowd,’’ Ryan said.
“Their young half-back is a good player. You have Kevin Locke, Manu.
They were all a bit under par (against Brisbane) but they are great players and they are going to test us.

“They are playing for their season and so are we.”

I sense by looking at our bench, Ellis will again be shifted to the front row at some stage, which he does not seem to like. And neither do I.

I don't understand Flanagan on the bench when Brown is on the Bench and Fulton is in the starting 13. Put a decent sized forward there. Especially in the finals.

I don't think lawrence will be slow. He last returned from a dislocated hip injury, he's expected to take a few weeks to get back. This time he had a niggle in his hammy. His confidence will be where it was before. I think he'll be perfectly fine.

It looks to me like we won't be playing this match in the middle of the park too much. Lots of running at Vatuvei to try and tire him out.

I have been crying for years that Shines cant run a bench to save his life...

Couldnt agree more about Fulton being veratile enough to move into the backs in the event of an injury...

Im still not sure that Shines wont go with a bench of Utai,Groat, Woods & Brown...

Fulton can play centres, five-eighth, back row and hooker capably enough, you don't need a clone of him on the bench. It's just...pointless.

Is Payten out for the season, or due back before? If he comes back you'd imagine Flanno would drop off the bench. Otherwise it's a full strength side, and a very strong one at that.

I'd prefer Flanno there. Payten has been poor this year.

Funny isn't it - last year our chances were cruelled when Toddy was injured, this year our chances would be cruelled if he was fit (cause you know Sheens would select him). Personally, Flanno has been very strong the last couple of weeks, has earnt his spot. Against a big Warriors team I think his mobility and line speed will come in very useful.

the position that flanagan is filling is essentially purely a defender who tackles anything that moves in the middle third and might take a hit up here and there. he, payten, al shirnack and even beau ryan have all filled it this year. its how sheens has liked to play this year.

This is my first semi's since being on the forum,

We copped a barrage from the Dragons last week, but barely a peep from the Warrior supporters? Maybe they have one eye on the RWC?

I know it's only a pipe dream, but what a side we would have had, if Dwyer was playing? Not complaining with what we got now though.

Danger man against us is always Feleti Mateo. Tim Sheens has played it well the past few meetings with lots of traffic coming Mateo's way to tire him out. Hopefully thats what continues to happen on Fri night.

We are here. But what gloating can we possibly do? You lot have won 9 on the trot and we just got beaten by 40 in Week 1.. Theres nothing to say unless we spring a giant upset. (We all know Saints fans are morons anyway).

I agree with
Fulton can play centres, five-eighth, back row and hooker capably enough
but believe that he has been at his best lately because he has left his back row / five-eight ball playing role at home and done as he has been instructed and that would be - a defensive second rower.

It is why he has received a few man of the match awards from Ch 9 and of course, helped him retain his place in the starting side.

No problem if Flanagan gives Heigno a break and purely does the defensive bit as well.

I completely agree, my point is though, that if injury was to strike mid game, Fulton is capable of shifting anywhere to accommodate with minimal disruption to the rest of the team. Why have another guy just like that on the bench, in a finals game, against a team full of big powerful forwards

Yeah MU, see your point but this is Sheens we are talking about.

Maybe Sheens is getting it right this year

He does like mobility in his forwards e.g. Fifita was very mobile for a big kid, Payten was mobile before his tired old legs gave out finally, Dwyer, Fulton and Gibbs are all mobile.

He now has 4 props and his mobile back rowers.

He now has a guy who is playing a defensive role for 80 minutes (even though he is still not topping the tackle count)

He loves a backs reserve who can cover many positions, e.g. the great Fitzy and I guess he sees Brown being abole to cover for a winger, a centre or the fullback without too much shuffling elsewhere, e.g. say a winger goes down and only having Fulton as his cover, that would mean losing the defensive back rower that has done a great job for the last x weeks, moving Fulton to centre would mean moving a centre to wing perhaps?

just saw the second half of last weeks game, Flanagan's line speed was great. He lead the way for our fast moving swarming defense
