We have come close this year with alot of youngsters, so we will have awsome depth and they should handle FG a little better.

Does relatively injury free mean relative to this year? Starting the season with nine first graders would be relatively injury free for Newcastle.

At full strength and in form our first grade side is a top 4 team.

Premier league is very strong and has over 250 first grade games experience in it. They would go close to the title.

But, it all depends on injuries and we have a terrible record with them. The club is making dramatic upgrades to this area and hopefully it pays off.

We still have some buying to do and half-back and lock are the real weak areas. Grimaldi is apparently a target of Souths while Sheppard may be the only half-back available unless we persist with Moran or try another up-and-coming half-back.

i do agree that we are in need of a halfback but cmon Lock is NOT a weak area!! we have Mini and Sutto and imo Champion can be eased into 5/8 .. i also think that Joey deserves another shot at first grade as he will have the off season to sort out whats going on with him ..

Man...looking back at my 2006 Roosters team...we are nowhere near what we were before. Unless Mickey Paea, Anthony Tupou, Richard Fa'aoso & the rest of our younguns fire up BIG TIME we are going to be stuck in the bottom 3. Crocker & Cayless are BIG losses. We didn't need Harrison, as good of a player as he is. All we needed was Anasta, & we would have been fine. Flannery, Lopini Paea, Schubert, Plum, & plenty of others can play lock, but instead we bought him & now we lost superstars Cayless & Crocker. Look at our line-up, then inject Crock & JC back into it, lose Harrison & put in Flannery there, & reshuffle...much better ay?

We have great backrow depth at Cronulla. Halves depth is a worry but... Our backline depth is good esp if we sign Matt Petersen.
