I don't think there's any link, either. The Penrith one is obvious, given Ivan coached us. And he brought a lot of ex-Roosters reserve graders to us in his time here (Rovelli, Henderson, Aidan Kirk, and Maloney ?? Could be wrong on last one)

Maloney was a Storm reserve-grader. Played for Wenty before that.

They cant keep them all, and obviously get it wrong few times.

Then other times, Hindy, Lewis, they get years of quality service.

Hindy is from Robertson champ. Hardly Western Sydney.

Although i am sure he played matts at parra.

I think by off-cuts you mean quality players who Parra screw up keeping and go on to do better things at new club.

Alot were young guys that we let go (stupidly) so really no way to tell how they were really going to turn out

We picked up Jason Death from the Cowboys back in the day too.

Gatis and Luck both played for the Cowboys before coming to us, but we didn't pick them up from the Cowboys as much as the Cowboys letting them go and us picking them up later on.

The Warriors-Cowboys connection had a lot to do with Kevin Campion returning to Auckland and working as our defensive coach after he retired. He's the one who sold Micheal Luck to the Warriors after being released by the Cows (at the time facing a very uncertain future) and Gatis working in a fish & chip shop when we had a #9 crisis in 2006.

I don't know that the Raiders target any one club as much as they take whoever will agree to come here, but there was a time when it seemed like we were the club of choice for Eels outcasts.
