Telegraph - appalling

How can they call that a 'grand final souvenier edition' with the NRL logo on the front page, and then have one page on last nights match??? Absolutely astounding that the media in the home of rugby league jumps ship so easily.

true mate, but it's worrying that the media sells the game out so easily. No melbourne teams in the AFL either, but I get home from Sydney today to find double figure pages about the other game two days later - I am astounded that's all

i agree it is piss poor...but the same thing happens up here. If the Broncos arent involved or dont win...you get bugger all.

Maybe the papers were just embarrassed by the standard of officiating and decided to let alone...

that would make more sense - I'd love to have seen the paper today if it was a sydney team done over like we were
If you're super keen to see that I might still have snippets of the 99 GF newspaper coverage. I'll have a look around.

Agreed that the Daily Telegraph has been piss poor and the Herald Sun in Melbourne sticks solid with AFL regardless.

It is a GRAND FINAL FFS...

I remember the Telegraph doing the same thing in 1996 when the Swans made their first grand final. Coverage was about 2:1 in favour of the Swans when we had two Sydney teams in the Grand Final (Manly and Dragons).

The DT was piss poor then and it remains so to this day.

I agree - they were just as definitive that Hodges hand was on top of Hoffmans arm and therefore, the ball has to have come off Hodges first

1996 was the "ARL" comp and thus the News Ltd paper didnt really give it that much attention
