Italian soccer footballers think that line woman is dramatic.

should have just threatened to kill her. That’s all good according to the US open (if your first name is Serena anyway)
Eh? I'm pretty sure she was given a code violation which saw her lose the match, she copped an immediate $10K fine which was the most they could dish out, and then another $175K fine after a full investigation.

One of those ones where the rules said he had to be DQ'd and so he was regardless.

Players do that a thousand times a tournament and nothing happens because it hits the wall or dribbles to a ball boy or whatever. Pretty soft incident and a total accident, but what are you gonna do? Shouldn't hit the ball near the lines people like that.

I guess if you're gonna have a year where you go completely eye-shining Balkan mental, 2020 is a good one to choose.

Some gems from the archives coming out, including Djokovic bouncing his racket into the crowd, firing it at the WTF crowd and narrowly missing a linesman in RG 2016 after throwing it again...came about an inch from missing out on his lone RG title. As well, he had a go at journalists asking him about potential negative repercussions from this behaviour, which he thought was ridiculous.

I guess it was bound to happen eventually. He actually belted the ball to the side of the court a couple of minutes before the incident and avoided a warning.
he has a history of being reckless , with hitting balls recklessly, racket abuse, crowd abuse, umpire abuse, organizing dances in corona restriction , bound to happen eventually , massive chip on his shoulder

I doubt they’ll stick their necks out for him now

Yeah unlikely. The guy is toxic and probably jeopardises their off-court interests. His behaviour, tone deaf nature, the weird pseudo science stuff...and his family fmd, conspiracy theory peddling wife and his father is a complete lunatic. They need a better PR team...

The whole tournament is a farce, shouldn't have been played.
Not much being mentioned about the French Open yet which is supposed to start in just under 3 weeks.

Some of the stuff coming from the (hopefully fringe) Serbian press is horrible as well.

Anyway, the tournament is actually interesting now instead of a sleepwalk for Djokovic. I'd like to see Thiem win the whole thing. He's been so close at RG & AO, and it would do wonders for his confidence heading onto clay. Wouldn't be surprised if it's Medvedev, very smart player & doesn't seem bothered in the big occasions.

Yeah you reckon it would be either Thiem or Medvedev, it will be interesting to see how Alex De Minaur goes against Theim.

Ash Barty confirmed today she wont be defending her title at the French Open.

As overacted as it seems, wearing one in the throat when you aren’t expecting it is going to knock the wind out of you. Intentional or not you can’t be hitting officials, the default was the correct outcome.

Then again, it’s not the worst thing seen at the US open in the past 3 years. At least Djokovic didn’t lie about it because he’s a father.

Adios Serena!

My fave part was that the infamous serena "injury" time out was used when she lost a couple consecutive points to be deuce on her service game while down 0-1 in the 3rd. The most blatant attempt to throw a player off her game I've ever seen.

Azarenka just sat there while the idiot got her ankle "worked on", then promptly broke her serve when play resumed.

Oh, it was also great that she was beaten by another mother, so that the insufferable US ESPN coverage couldn't try and play the "its just so hard to win and be a parent" card after the loss.

I reckon Margaret Court's record is going to stay intact

Thiem vs. Zverev, nice change of pace for a final. Only took a global pandemic, an injured Swiss, a worried Spaniard and a head case Serb to allow it to be.

I hope the Austrian wins it, he’s come so close before. Two successive GS finals is impressive as well.
