All the best coaches in sport often say that if a player chooses money over coming to your squad then it is no real loss. I have paid attention to that as I am a Liverpool fan and when they were interested in a player in the transfer window and missed out due to them choosing money most if not all ended up duds for the clubs they ended up at and were sold more or less a year or 2 later. I have a feeling this will be the case with May. Way too many red flags with this signing especially the Roosters allowing him to leave out of nowhere and so soon.

I think there are two main recruitment motivators: money and success. Maybe we don't have much in TPAs. And it has been a while since we were finals regulars.
True. Although the Tigers seem to be recruiting ok.

I think weve been too conservative, overpaid people to stay, and cannot move players on. The last one is a particular issue.

If anyone can fix it Flanno can.

Every year they say Tigers recruiting well with Bateman, Papalii, Sullivan, etc and they end up last. For all Tigers fans sake, I really hope they go well. They have a great bunch of fans but unfortunately the players and club just love to pile on the misery every year.

They've put together a very competitve looking team. Luai and Galvin in the halves with Bula at the back and Hunt and May your starting props, they give themselves every opportunity to fight for a spot in the 8. Coaching will be the big issue for them, can Benji utilize that squad. The Clubs' losing culture may play a part too. Hooker is an issue, they should buy Hunt when nobody else signs him and give him the 9 jersey.
The more I think about it the more pissed I am we didn't grab May, we had the money and the inside running by all accounts. The guy's just what we need, a level above any forward we have on the books.

I'd go with Pole in the 13 and Bird 14. This is one of those Predicted lists off the net.

1. Jahream Bula
2. Sunia Turuva
3. Justin Olam
4. Adam Doueihi
5. Charlie Staines
6. Lachlan Galvin
7. Jarome Luai
8. Royce Hunt
9. Tallyn Da Silva
10. Terrell May
11. Samuela Fainu
12. John Bateman
13. Jack Bird

14. Latu Fainu
15. David Klemmer
16. Alex Seyfarth
17. Fonua Pole

Hi David,
it's a professional sport and money is the first and foremost factor in signing a player but if there's not much difference between offers of course other factors come into play.
Several players have an Api or Samoan connection.
Api played with Luai and Turuva. Luai played with May in the Samoan rep team, May is an ex Magpie four years ago and is a westy. Apparently it was a phone call from Api that persuaded May to come over.
There's a few more too like the underrated Staines from Penrith.
The gap between the quality of players is getting wider making selections easier for us.
That's why the team with the best roster usually wins because they play more games together and gel. We will improve.
Yes. Your roster is building greatly Nutz. I feel that with the players that you have, 2025 will be a much better year than the last three years

Sorry mate.i get what you meant. Not having a go at you. All good mate
I realize that buddy , your post came across as if the Dragons were sitting around doing nothing but waiting
until the other clubs signed the quality players .

Of course the club or perhaps more so Flanagan , were dealing cards before or shortly after the 1st of November.

So Douehi's knee problems are in the past now? Then we could get him over here as a 5/8.

With Api at hooker and the spine is looking very good. Overall a much improved squad and I think a hard team to beat in 2025 if Benji can nail it.

Olam was playing injured since he came right up untill he had to sit it out for surgery...'24 had nothing to do with his form.
Olam was never the same player at the Tigers that he was at the Storm, neither was Bateman, have a look at the difference in Garner since he went to the Panthers. For their sake I hope Luai breaks that cycle.

Hi Im new here.

Im not too worried about missing out on May. However, the issue is we cant sign any decent player when there is more than a one horse race. Gutherson, Holmes, Cook, these were all deals with us as the only suitor. This has been going on for years. Hunt was the same.

At some point soon we need to sign a player that chooses to come to us over another club. That will help our recruitment moving forward and give us a boost as well.
Mate there are 3 major people who will take a no nonsense approach to footy next year, driving higher standards and that will be your hard nosed coach, Cook and Gutho.
From an outsider looking in it was brain explosions from sloan and co and Hunt and Lomax unstabilizing (destabilising, where's auto spell when I need it) crap off the field.
Sometimes watching Saints and the Tiges play this year I've felt like pulling the plug on my TV hoping the game would just reset.
2025 will be a better year for both teams.

They are trying to buy their way into a premiership window and maybe with a better coach they could do it, but I just can't see it happening.
They may well get off the bottom of the ladder next year but they really only have 2-3 years before this method will turn on them and they will have cap issues again with players wanting out.

While I am worried about our lack of forward signings and the depth issues we would face as long as Flanno continues moving in the right direction, we will slowly become a more attractive option without needing to offer massive overs in both $$ & years to get it over the line.

Flanno is trying to build us for sustained success, not brief window which will ultimately lead to nothing.

I just hope he is given the time & means he needs to do it.

Benji's mission is to get off the bottom of the table and not get the rissole.

We are not a top four team and to hot and cold.

All we can do it keep on going forward to the semis next year.
