I support any outsider team that breaks the current oligopoly.Benji is welcome to coach the Tigers to a grand final ... where the Dragons soundly defeat them.

Olam was never the same player after Storm played Manly in '23. He got beat up in that game and went from being a smiling assassin to someone living in fear of being tackled. Calf injury? Yeah, maybe. Looked more like he lost all confidence. You've got your face too close to the screen my friend....during Olam's last season at the storm, Justin Olam wasn't the same player he was previously at the storm...
He was in RESERVE GRADE which was where Benji signed him from. He came with a known calf injury that only allowed him a few trouble free games. These are facts. Make your point some other way....has Daine Lairie improved at all ..let alone out of sight since coming back to the panthers in any grade to make your point?....I'd say no
I agree with you in theory but the jury is still out for me.Few coaches have natural predispositions that lend themselves to leadership & man management (Think Bennet & Bellamy.) Most others, including Benji, do not.
Ivan Cleary, on the other hand, acquired his leadership skills and knowledge that were developed over time and involved multiple failures, years of experience and mentorship.
My point is Benji just doesn't have the experience to be an automatic success.
i got my lower leg / players mixed up....make that knee which became "knees" ..he's had his surgery hopefully (x2 ) he's right again. As for his confidence I'm confidentCalf injury? Yeah, maybe
I'd return to the fold of the catholic churchI agree with you in theory but the jury is still out for me.
If by chance Benji were to get coach of the year would that change your opinion Drac?
I'd return to the fold of the catholic church
Just stay out of the Sun Drac.I'd return to the fold of the catholic church
Olam was never the same player at the Tigers that he was at the Storm, neither was Bateman, have a look at the difference in Garner since he went to the Panthers. For their sake I hope Luai breaks that cycle.
They are trying to buy their way into a premiership window and maybe with a better coach they could do it, but I just can't see it happening.
They may well get off the bottom of the ladder next year but they really only have 2-3 years before this method will turn on them and they will have cap issues again with players wanting out.
While I am worried about our lack of forward signings and the depth issues we would face as long as Flanno continues moving in the right direction, we will slowly become a more attractive option without needing to offer massive overs in both $$ & years to get it over the line.
Flanno is trying to build us for sustained success, not brief window which will ultimately lead to nothing.
I just hope he is given the time & means he needs to do it.
I did watch Garner play, my point was that he improved going to the Panthers unlike players that have come to the Tigers and gone backwards, hey dont worry mate we have the same, its a trait of all the struggling clubs.Olams biggest issue was his knees, has had surgery on them both now so we'll see how he goes next year. Either way he's clearly past his best whichever club he is at.
Bateman just sucks, Super League fans were laughing at us signing him, turns out they were right
Its clear you didnt watch Garner in 2022, he was one of our best, every Tigers fan wished him well. He likely has improved since going to penrith, which player wouldnt?
Buy our way to a Premiership? Well what team isnt?
Your story makes no actual sense though. We've made 6 signings for next year and our oldest (Bird) is the same age as your youngest signing (edit not that youve signed Illias). Our squad of 30 has 15 guys aged 23 or under, 10 of them can still play Flegg next year. From what I can tell Saints have 2(this may wrong, just going on the club websites).
To say we're purely after immediate success whilst youre planning sustained success is one of the most uneducated statements Ive seen on here. Theres no reason you cant have both.
