The 7:30 Report (30 min National Current Affairs programme on the Australian Govt's ABC TV Network) is doing a story on the muted Tennis World cup..

They are interviewing the instigator of the cup - a former AFL player a someone Hird - on the idea..

The Narrator / Presenter is saying what a great idea cos other sports have it..

He says Football has a world Cup - then vision of a Soccer WC match..

Then he says Rugby has a world cup - cross to vision of that magnificent Haka between the Kangaroos and the Kiwis in the 2008 RLWC... :D :D

Thanks ABC for highlighting the proper rugby code..It meant a lot... :D

It does hit a point on the naming issues. I think it's a mistake that aussies refer to Union as just rugby, because in the places where RL or RU aren't that popular, the name rugby does a lot for recognition. We should insisit they change to Rugby Union World Cup.

Nope, will never happen. They are the "original" uses of the word Rugby. they could tell us to revert to using "Northern Union".

I wouldnt say now to rebranding as "Super Rugby" but id rather just win the war against Rah Rah and become the strongest and only form of Rugby.

Actually, they are not the original users in terms of a World Cup - the first 'Rugby World Cup' was in 1954 and was Rugby League, a full 33 years before Union arrogantly stole that title.

Yeah, well, we own the rights to the name, so there. Suckers.
