Not sure if this has been discussed in any of the other threads, but thought the choice of Trindall as 18th man was a ridiculous one. I know it’s unlikely we’ll need to use it, but surely you’d stick a big back rower as your 18th man - the sort that can mix it up the middle or push out wide. Either that or you throw an X-factor with pace there. A spare half back seems stupid. You can play on without a half back, but you’re goosed if you need forwards and your 18th man is Trindall.
Whilst I’m not a fan of the 18th man, surely you prepare for being able to use it to your advantage if the opportunity arises.
With a back line including Kennedy, Moylan and Chad, and then bench players Tracey and Magoo, we were never going to be desperate for a half. We had 2 concussions, if we’d had say Feefs or even Pele (who I know isn’t ready), we could have found another HIA in the last 10 today and brought on a big bopper to end the game. If we’d genuinely lost another big man or outside back to HIA in this game, what use at all would Trindall have been to us? Trindall would only have been of any use if we’d lost Chad, Moyza or Brailey, but even then, we have cover in Tracey and Magoo.
