is the 'h' word a forbidden word now? or is there a double standard applied when abbott used it compared to when paul keating or bob brown also both used it as an adjective? agre it was a strange choice but not something worth jumping up and down over like the bay of lefties next to my work area and many others have been doing.

abbott has said plenty of things on par with george w but i think this might be one that is being blown out of context as part of abbott bashing.

I don't think the Jews like it being used for completely unrelated purposes....particularly ones that don't involve anybody being killed. Doesn't bother me, and one group obviously doesn't own the use of a word, but it's a bloody stupid thing for PM to say in Parliament. It's more a sign of his ineptitude and unsuitability for the role than anything else. If he was talking about some other event that involved mass destruction and death, that'd be fair game I reckon.

If you talk about ineptitude, I caught Q & A this week, Shorten is a complete embarrassment. Didn't articulate anything. Had basically no knowledge of anything and looked what he is - hopeless

Help the nation , he is seriously worse than the current PM!, an absolute dill

Shorten wasn't on Q&A this week Delboy. :alcho: It was the Shadow Minister for Not Much, Chris Bowen.

And Chris Bowen was far better than the bloke who turned up for the coalition.

Would be the most smug and arrogant took in politics if not for Christopher Pyne.

He's a bit like the stuart macgill of the coalition.

that's understandable but it isn't the jewish population that was up in arms about the comment. seemed to be extreme left wingers on the anti-abbott brigade that look for any reason to lynch him.

i reckon anyone could find a word or two that could be interpreted to be offensive to just about any group. seems to be the way of modern society to want to take things out of context and then make noise about it. i posted a link to a clip from tosh.0 a few weeks back that illustrated it perfectly.

Nobody has lynched him, and I suspect there are plenty in his own party not too comfortable with the use of the word unnecessarily.

But the bigger point is that this guy is supposed to be the PM and leader of this country, and while everybody makes slips of the tongue etc......WTF was the word 'holocaust' doing floating around in his brain during a debate about unemployment, and WTF made him think it was a necessary or useful thing to say in a debate. I'm far from an extreme left-winger....the only party I've ever been a member of is the Liberal party. This clown is out of his depth (he's not Robinson Crusoe in that regard obviously). Turnbull is a vastly superior option.

Sometimes there's a public benefit in saying things that everyone else is thinking quietly. In this case, other than a couple of liberally tattooed bald-headed gentlemen in bad jeans and blueys, I bet nobody else was thinking 'Geez, what a holocaust this jobs market is' :)

Been there a few times and will be there in 2 weeks too.

The first couple of times didn't have a car and did the bus tours etc. have always stayed in Anaheim (Disney). LA itself is a little bit of a dive, like Sydney centre is I guess.

Anyways, we got a car last time and it was the best thing I've ever done, drove to Vegas (4 hours). There is so much more to see when you drive places and if your wife likes to spend money like mine, you will discover many shopping centres while driving.

We drove to Santa Monica, Newport, Balboa etc. (the OC). Malibu.

We went down to San Diego and it was so much easier to go and do things as you wanted rather than when the buses tell you.

We have hired a car for this trip too. It is even handy in Vegas, every hotel has valet so if you want to drive from one end to the other it is quite easy.

It's definitely worth having a car in LA.
Probably don't stay in Hollywood though. There's really not much there.

We're only there for 4 days on the way back from New York. The kids want to go to Universal and see Hollywood. I see that Hollywood is on the Red line and Universal Studios station is 4 stops away from Hollywood/Vine station.

They have been to Disneyland Hong Kong / Paris and are not interested in going to Anaheim.

Do I still need a car you reckon ?
