Gronk, following Sarah Hyphen Idiot , really really sad

How far left can you go, isn't there some sort of warning for that ? :)

I follow the Mad Monk, Malcolm Fraser and even Rowan Dean. That doesn't mean I assent to their opinions. Maybe you should broaden your horizons too. You might learn something. ;-)

Mal Fraser is a complete douchebag , who was marginally better PM than Whitlam and Rudd, and far worse than Hawke or even Keating

No interest in left wing loonie pollies who continually put the country into debt and then deny any culpability, I can't think of 2 bigger moronic disasters than Juliar and Krudd, that will do me for a while :(

Thanks Alan.

No proba Suity, if you think they were good for the country, then so be it. I have stopped listening to Jones in the morning as he has basically lost the plot, but think what you like ( I guess the ABC is your stationof choice)

Don't understand why, but then again, I really believe Howard and Costello did a terrific job, looked too easy when the lunatics came into power

They started very well....then at a time of a huge temporary increase in revenues from the first mining boom pissed it all away in superannuation concessions and middle class welfare (and more public servants interestingly......most of the increase in public servants between 2007-2010 came in the first 9 months of 2007). I suspect this was more Howard's doing than Costello's.

Looking forward to the NBA season. Wonder whether LeBron can take the Cavs to a premiership ring with K Love and Irving?

I was a Miami Heat fan and had pair of flaming ball bag shorts but f**k it, I am becoming a Cleveland fan. Got my new shorts and have worked out the names of at least two people other than LeBron.

I have a strong affinity with Cleveland having read about it on at least one occassion. I also like dishing out Cleveland Steamers so it is a natural fit.

But seriously, LeBron dont f**king change clubs again as I don't want to buy another pair of f**king shorts.

To add to the bottom line, Howard then commenced to sell off the farm:

Jan 1997 – $1.5 million + annual lease payments Avalon Airport Geelong Ltd;
May 1997 – $3.337 billion Melbourne-Brisbane-Perth airports;
July 1997 – $408 million DASFLEET;
April 1988 – $730 million Phase 2 Airports;
March 1999 – $650 million National Transmission Network;
November 1999 – $347 million ADI Ltd;
June 2002 – $4.2 billion Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport (plus SACL debt of $1.35 billion);
November 1997 – $14.2 billion Telstra 1;
October 1999 – $16 billion Telstra 2;
November 2006 – $15.4 billion Telstra 3.

Does it really surprise anyone that Howard left a surplus of $20B ?

Another paddock to be auctioned.

Stockbrokers bid for $12 billion in Medibank shares, more than double the maximum $5.5 billion of shares on offer. http://ow.ly/DxVGN

Same gutful, I've spent money on a couple of Miami singlets over the last few. But it's cavs for life now!

It's not government's job to be compassionate. And what prime ministers do in their own time is their business.

I beg to differ. You can be on the right and also be compassionate.

Compassionate conservatives offer a new way of thinking about the poor. They know that telling the poor that they are mere passive victims, whether of racism or of vast economic forces, is not only false but also destructive, paralyzing the poor with thoughts of their own helplessness and inadequacy. The poor need the larger society's moral support; they need to hear the message of personal responsibility and self-reliance, the optimistic assurance that if they try ? as they must ? they will make it. They need to know, too, that they can't blame "the system" for their own wrongdoing.

I'm sure Abbott is compassionate. He is a Christian, and Christians are called to follow Jesus' example of personal sacrifice and compassion.

But as Prime Minister, Abbott's job isn't to be compassionate. It is to facilitate Australia's best interests, at the expense of our competitors if necessary.

Actually it has been shown that Atheists are far more compassionate that their Faithful cousins. I would tend to believe this through my life experience as well. The (conservative) Faithful seem to be very single minded and selfish.

So which Abbott policies reflect his compassion ?
