10 years ago they didn't have the same limits on head size and MOI. I could probably hit a Big Bertha ERC with the super springy trampoline face further than an x2 Hot. The only real improvement of late in drivers is increased forgiveness which helps higher handicap players.

Pro V1 has a lot more golf balls nipping at its heels than it did 10 years ago but it is arguably still the benchmark.
